I mean run 2 computers. One to run the FD engine and one to run the RX8 systems (including the electrical power steering). Then these will have to talk to each other.
Also, I don't think the motor mounts line up. New ones will half to be fabricated.
A FD swap is probably one of the easiest of the swaps. But in modern cars, nothing is drop-in easy.

He's as bad as Can
There is a thread about this being done, but as noted you cannot drop in a 16 year old engine and turn the key and expect everything to work.
What you desire is a custom job.

I HATE SPEEDBUMPS!
What are you thinking? It's a lot of work, hassle, and modifying to do an engine swap within those two engines. And why put an rx7 engine rather than getting a refurbished rx8 engine? I know you have 2 more years to think about it until it will be a project for you. But anyways, let us know 2 years from now on what will you do about it. But for now, enjoy your rx8 engine and take care of it, rather than swapping it with an rx7 engine. Good luck on the route your going to.
