Engine Swap Auto to Manual

My auto engine is no good. I purchased a manual engine, which form the people I bought it from, All Import Salvage, they said the manual and automatic engines are the same, except the flywheel, they say all i need to do is put my flywheel on the manual and it will fit. it was all going good until i went to hook up the intake and on the manual there are 6 holes and the auto that was from my car there are only 4. it is a high output engine and mine was standard i do believe. There is also the manual are electronically controlled and mine were vacum. Is there any way to make this work for cheap? Is there some kind of adapter plate? I have contacted the people i bought it from and they are looking, anyone know anything that i can do?

So you don't have the intake manifold from the 'new' block?

Wow, that's not a good thing to learn the hard way. If they told you it would fit then they should either exchange it or give you a refund, seriously. They probably honestly didn't know about the extra ports, but it was their mistake really, though it would have been better if you'd have come here first instead of trusting them (hindsight is 20-20, I know).

As you now know, The manual engines are 6 port and the '04 and '05 auto engines are 4 port.

When you find the 6 port intake (and probably a computer from an '06 to '08 auto) the engines should swap.

rotary resurrection has done the swap but this is not something you can do cheap. take it back and make sure they either refund it or swap.

sounds like a plan to me. I don't know how much the intake manifold and computer will run you though. Maybe contact Mazmart to get an idea.

yeah take it back and tell them that they messed it up and either get a 6port with the intake manifold computer and everything ready togo to get another 4 port....but a ? y are you not just taking it to the dealer under warranty? It's covered for 8 years and or 100,000 miles unless u were highly modified and voided the warranty

are you trying to put the manual rated engine on the 4 speed automatic transmission?

I'm sure there is a reason that the engine is de-rated for the automatic, put on the higher powered engine and you might blow the tranny... right?

Isn't the 4-speed auto supposed to be the strongest tranny? Can't claim to really know myself, just repeating what I've read.

really,

where have you heard that? links..

not a huge 300 to 400 on six speed.. i think of only three here that have done an auto.. i recall none of them doing over 300.

is the tranny the issue, not really! but it will fail before the rear diff.

Yea they are taking it back for a refund. I prolly should have asked here first but the company i bought it from ensured me that they were the same. if anyone is looking for the body on a 04 rx8 with a complete body kit and other stuff it is for sale for 4,500, the body only has 54,000 miles on it, heres the link,

You could actually run the 6 port block in place of a 4 port. Just run the 6 port intake and leave the extra 2 ports closed (since the PCM cannot control them and you do not have enough fuel to feed them anyway). You'd have 2 injector ports to block off on the 6 port intake manifold, and reuse your 4 port fuel and wiring and such and it would run normally. The 2 secondary ports on a 4 port are about the same size as the 2 secondary (non auxiliary) ports on a 6 port block. They simply don't cut out the 6 port holes on the 4 port block. The ports are slightly different, but not enough to matter all that much.

Of course, if you can obtain the correct engine, then you should do that. IF you got an awesome deal on this one or if you could not return it, it could easily be made to work.
