BSME '69 Rutgers, PE, Manufacturing Director (small aerospace company) and, oh yeah, Lockheed Martin is one of our customers (Pressurant Tanks for Atlas V).
But more importantly, I definitely read an article about a mazda rotary in a homebuilt but was it a Renesis? Not sure. I'll try to find it.

Software quality engineer here.
Yes, I think that my daily contact with aircraft engines had quite an influence. The rotary is the only car engine that has some abstract similarity with a jet engine (parts are turning instead of moving up and down and the whole thing has little weight - altough of course a turbo engine is something completely different). Also, my overall first test drive impression of the car was that it felt somehow equaled a jet fighter, especially its redline roar. And from a quality point of view, the car looked pretty good too (and still looks).

It is going on a lot in the past couple of years but to make it work over the long term you really do have to know what you are doing.

Being a mechanical engineer and reading anything technical about the rotary engine helped inspire confidence that this engine made sense. My job is Mass Properties, so I can appreciate weight, cg and inertia when designing a car or buying one. Go lightning yellow!!!

I love how everyone and their dog in the US calls themselves an "engineer". What an insult to the profession.
At least in Canada you can get sued by the CCPE (Canadian Council of Professional Engineers) if you call yourself an engineer and aren't.

I'm a Materials Science Engineer working R&D for a sports flooring company.
Gotta love Google Engineers too! It's funny how many of our office people think that they have solutions to engineering problems because they read an article from a search engine. I hate how they feel it is necessary to help me do my job.

I think it's one of the only ones that would count since they have been around so long, longer then us EE's anyway, and I'll allow it becasue I have always had a love for trains
On another thought, we have so many EE's around here yet we cant figure out a little computer...

Mechanical engineer that works in the automotive industry developing diesel engines. Rotary engines and diesel engines are my favourites. I have been a rotary fanatic since I purchased my 89 RX7. I currently own a "highly modified" 95 RX7 and my daily drive is a 97 MX6. My wife drives a 2001 Millenia S. What can I say, I love Mazdas.
