What are your likes and dislikes of the rx-8? Are you glad you decided to purchase one?

WAY WAY too many to name. As someone already said, do a search. But here are some basics.

-Good
*Revs to 9K RPMs
*Handles like a bat outta hell
*Fun to drive
*Looks great


-Not so good
*Needs a little extra care (I dont mind it but some might)
*Terrible MPG
*Not much torque (a little underpowered in some people's opinions but fast enough for me)
*Bad resale value

Like I said this is just the very tip of the iceberg. This is a great forum with lots of info. Read up...

 

Love almost everything about it - especially Mike's four "good" items. I'd also add how well the controls are placed to my A-list. Ever see that episode of ALF where he sets up for an evening of TV watching, with the remote, chips, drink, etc. carefully arranged so he won't have to budge from his position? That's how I find the 8's controls.

Just two dislikes:

o Not much interior storage space.
o Seat does not fit my body very well.

The last is the only real problem. But it's a combination of excess weight and back problems. My doctor's been ragging me to do my back exercises and take some weight off, so the 8 is giving me incentive to do that.

I like the fact that it is not as fast as a Z.

That way it will be a complete surprise...

 

Likes:

1. Road feel, suspension, balance
2. Good acceleration (sure I'd like more, but it's not THAT hard to break the rear tires loose as is)
3. 4 seat sports car
4. styling
5. shifter (I'll be walking a long doing something, and suddenly I'll start day dreaming about driving and shifting)


Dislikes:
1. No telescoping steering wheel
2. Not enough headroom
3. No way to keep the chime in the Navi, but silence the voice instructions
4. Rattles. (Might have to go on a rattle hunt.)

So-So:
1. MPG (sure I'd like to get more then 16-17 mpg, but I knew the mpg story coming into this)

 

Best all-around car that I have owned..

 

I agree with everyone here.... my only two complaints are the MPG and the amount of oil it consumes... other wise love this car

Yeah, I agree that that's weak, one of a number of very minor, petty complaints I have about the car (which don't even *begin* to make a dent in all the *wonderful* things about it).

Likes:

1. Sounds beautiful. (The sound alone turns lots of heads)
2. When most other cars are in 4th gear, your still in 2nd.
3. Looks very slick.
4. Can outrun most other cars through the turns.
5. Rear Wheel Drive.
6. Suicide doors always wow people.
7. The Digital mph readout is always nice.
8. That it requires lots of loving. I love getting under the hood, changing the oil, spark plugs, etc...

Dislikes:

1. Lot's of rattles.
2. Bad gas mileage on a normal basis.
3. Horrible gas mileage when you have a heavy foot from time to time.
4. Attracts smudges, and finger prints on the windows.
5. Scrapes some speed bumps in my area if you can believe that.
6. Makes a lot of idiots pull up next to me at lights wanting to race.
7. Doesn't take much to flood the engine if your not paying attention. (though I've never done it) it makes me nervous thinking about it.
8. Makes me want to floor it, all the time.


The likes definitely outweigh the dislikes. It's the most enjoyable car I ever own.
