Never thought of it as a hate/envy crime but I came out of the grocery store and found someone parked so close (about 1 foot) that I had to open my window and push my car out to be able to get into it.

From: Back in Cincinnati, Ohio
This past weekend was homecoming weekend at my college (U of Cincinnati). And we are up and drinking early because the parade starts at 10am and the football game was at noon vs the Orangemen. I go and get some gum out of my car and I notice that there were 2 huge spit marks on the passenger sidefront fender close to the hood and door. It was freezing out so the spit had been there for along time because it was already crystleizing or should I say frozen. At my buddies when they have a party they usually have alot of people at their house. My car was in the back beside thier house and another house. Keep in mind, there wasnt any room to really park back there. So if you were out on the front lawn you could see my car. I was so pissed when I saw that ****. I was about to beat someone down. Why would they?! Seriously...why? I dont get it. So I had some water left in my car and had enough to wash it off.

I am still alittle pissed about it. It is what it is though. I got it off but its the princible of it all. Why? Prolly some frosh walking by or something and saw my car there. Oh well. Sorry for rambleing on, just dont get it!

I think having dark tinted windows on my 8 has been somewhat a deterrent to would-be vandals. When they can't see inside, they're not 100% sure if someone mean and nasty just happens to be sitting there, so they probably decide to keep walking past my car.

I've had people spit on my car many times and even had someone put a 12 inch scratch on my hood. I'm glad I only have a $50 deductible.

When I got my truck almost 9 years ago, I made a point of parking far away in the parking lot, and did that for a few years. It had nothing to do with me thinking my $12k pickup was "better" than anybody elses, and everything to do with not wanting some lazy asshat smacking it with hit door. Why on earth would you think that just because somebody didn't park as close as possible, that they deserve to have their car vandalised?

I'm one of those people. I don't bother locking the doors on my truck, and sometimes on warmer days I leave the window down a bit. Don't leave the keys in it, though.

Before I had my 8, I had one of the first 05 Black Mustang GT's in town.

Ya know, out at the mall there's the area that is striped off before the first parking space? Well I thought I was getting lucky and so I parked half in the striped area and half in the space, drivers side in the space, broad daylight. I come out an hour later and happened to unlock the pasenger side door, to put some things away, and found a HUGE dent, right in the center of the door. Now the mustangs have an extra metal beam that went through that area for extra side impact protection. What ever hit it, hit is so hard It dented the beam. I went inside and watched the security cameras.Of course they were not pointed in that area at that time...30 ft from the Mall DOORS! I had her a week! Keeping my figners crossed with the 8. No envy hate crimes, just a rear ender, and thats being fixed...lol

I havent had too many "envy hate crimes" with my 8...its mostly people talkin **** because im 19 with a car their parents couldnt afford (yes, I used my parents credit to finance the 8...but im the one makin the $500 payments now). Other than that I have a few door dings.

About a week after I got it, a drunk friend of a friend opened his door into mine HARD...and thought it was funny to throw $0.25 at me to "get it fixed" since I was complaining (a lot). My friends kicked his *** I still have the dent though

No envy crimes, but certainly vandalism and theft. Not with the 8. Hopefully never.

This one dude was following me in an older Integra some time back, I was driving my N/A FC..he thought he could handle the twistier parts of the road at the speed I was setting... Wrong... Well, he finally caught up with me again once it split into dual-lanes, and went by me with his middle finger out the window at me.

Thankfully, my car blends well enough (Even though it's very rare in my particular area) so that people leave it alone...
