Welcome aboard. I had one by a company called federated, it saved my butt a couple of times. Most do have an age and mileage limit on the car though.

Congrats, I also bout an 8 too as well recently. Also my first Rotary Engine too. As for an extended warranty if you bought it with a bank loan they can provide you with a warranty usually. Enjoy your 8 and lets see some pics bro

Welcome to the club, enjoy your new 8 and i'm sure a quick search on google will come up with some reputable extended warranty companies. I would recommend to cross reference them with the BBB. Enjoy!

I did a search yesterday and found out about direct buy warranty and read the horror stories. I did not finance the vehicle so I will have to look for a third party seller for coverage. Does Mazda offer a decent extended warranty?

Not trying to take away from the OP - but can someone explain this third-party extended warranty to me? I was unaware that you could get that kind of thing on a used car that didn't a manufacturers warranty.

Where do you want to get the car worked on if it needs it?

Local Mazda Dealership? Go there and see what they can offer you.

I was quoted $2600 for a 6 year 60K Mile extended warranty bumper to bumper at the dealership. (Platinum Plan)

Insurance provider was Fidelity Warranty Services, Inc.

Fidelity Warranty Services - Home Page

I am going to purchase through the dealership, so if there is ever a big issue, or even some small ones, I know that they are going to do right by me since I purchased through them.

I already made friends withe service manager and one of the Techs I already knew, he helped me get some parts for my FC when I was doing my engine swap.

All of this will come in handy in the long run as I plan on owning this car for a while. Owned my FC for 12 years now.

The evo X is a great car, lots of power. The rx8 handles very well as does the evo. they both get about the same gas mileage. the evo is better for ice/snow/mountainous areas

Most extended warranty companies will void the warranty if you modify the vehicle at all.

Springs, tire size, even a K&N panel filter. Trust me I know....

That's true, but in most cases when it comes to a recall doesn't matter if your car is modded or not. Also if your in a automobile accident of some sort your insurance will cover it and even give you the money of that modify part or parts J/S

Most of the stuff that breaks on the car isn't in any type of recall, all the stuff listed in the TSB list aren't recalls just things that customers might complain about.

IIRC The recalls consist of a faulty fuel tank insulator, a failed lower A arm, and the reflashes to the ECU.

Sadly insurance companies do not cover the aftermarket parts unless you add them to your policy.

Bottom line I've been shafted by those extended warranty companies before.... Never again.

I have no intentions of modifying this 8 so the warranty is a no brainer for me.

All I need is for the Transmission or engine to fail and it paid for itself.

The only aftermarket part I am considering is the Racing Beat Resonated Cat replacement pipe. I am planning on having a talk with the service adviser (with tech in attendance) next time I am at the dealership. My only reason for this pipe is my personal knowledge that the engine will be much happier if it is breathing freer.

Otherwise I am not messing with this car, the RX7 is a rolling compromise due to all the tuning. I just want a car that is fun without all the compromises.

I love both the Evo and the RX-8. The dual clutch automatic is the way to go in the new Evo it just shifts so fast and so much its pretty amazing. However, shifting through the gears in the RX-8 just speaks to me in the way the Evo didn't.

Its wierd, I guess I just beleive in "feeling" the car. The Rx-8 has more soul for me. If that makes any sense whatsoever.

I can definitely understand what you mean from a "feeling" standpoint. I have owned faster cars than my RX-8 but the driving experience just wasn't there. The only car that was as fun to drive was my 82' 280ZX Turbo. I also have friends with EVO's and they have never really attracted me other than from a horsepower per dollar stand point.

There goes monchie again with his house, wife, kids and whatever. I already contested him about all that crap in this thread: New Guy Here... Trying to carry a discussion with him is like a conversation with the "rainman" why he can't just yell and bang his head to the wall when you keep him from pissing in his pant when he wishes to. Beyong being Lost in Translation.

Diverting attention off monchie are these: EVO X meets RX-8

Where can I get that kind of mounting kit for my front license plate. I got snagged the other day for it (that is, not having one).

It's the OEM plate holder installed onto the bumper. I have a big crack on the opening just below the OEM fog light so I just drilled holes to attach the plate holder covering the damage.
