well in some cities, supervisors are not allowed to authorise chases over a certain speed or if the perp's on a motorcycle...
but yea good luck on your insurance and hope you get back on the road soon!

If I ever decide to become a crook I'll be needing a list of those cities.

Hope everything gets put right...

on a related note, where are you bringing in your car for repairs? i'd like to know where and how well they did with it all, just in case i gotta do the same it's good to know what shops have worked on your car and the level of quality they showed.

also, since you're in the area maybe you wanna meet up. there's a tri-state meet coming up in what.. a week and a half? maybe we can get together a group of 8s to drive to wherever the meeting place is?

i hope your 8 gets fixed quick.

Like what others said - that sucks. At least you still have the car.

I hate to say it, but no nice car is safe in northern NJ. I mean, I have had an average of 1 incident (theft/attempted) between '98 and '03. I found my car once on my own and I chased away the theives on a second incident. On the second time, I gave them car make, model, plate of the thieves and nothing became of it. It's just out of control, thieves have their way in northern NJ.

sorry to hear that. still better than what happened to my 98 accord. Got broken in, airbags stolen and my golf clubs. No full coverage insurance. so have to pay $1300 to get the airbags and still no golf clubs.

Sorry to hear about that. I think I could hurt somebody really bad if I saw them trying to steal my 8. Then I would call the cops.

I understand that different departments have different policies concerning pursuits, but what if you are right. What if the cop was tired or deemed that it just wasn't worth it since they didn't actually steal your car, rather attempted to steal?
Just to make myself feel better, I would buy some space in the local paper and publish the event. Publish names, specifics, etc. I wouldn't be biased that the police didn't do anything, but I would tell the public the lack of attempt to catch the perpetrators and just tell your area what they can expect when it happens to them.
Don't be mean... just tell it like it is.

That's a good way to get pulled over ALOT! Especially for the old "broken tail light".

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Guns are your friends in a situation like this. Thieves like that deserve every bullet in the head you give them. Cops won't do that, so don't depend on them to do the job.

I hate thieves and I think they deserve every anger you could throw at them.

Xyntax - You can't kill people for trying to steal your property unless they enter you house to get it. It's just an fing car and really isn't worth going to jail for murder 2 or aggrevated manslaughter.

You shoot people outside of your home and you will go to jail and most likely have the scumbag or their family sue you in civil court (gotta love America). If they enter your home shoot to kill because if you let them live they can sue you for their injuries now.

I agree completely.. but apparently the law doesn't think so. as this happened in hollywood quite recently.

I don’t know about anywhere else but here in New Mexico your car is an extension of your house. So I would shoot them in the head with my Glock 33 (357sig) lay down plastic on my seat and throw them back in the car. Problem solved. Also I would take a picture of the dead SOB and post it on my windshield with the message “Do You Feel Lucky Punk”

see when u shoot some 1 lower than the waste and they dont die and you do get charged for attempted murder since its in a non vital area. so pump that ***** full of hollow points in his knee caps and his achiles tendons. Theives take the chance of stealing your stuff instead of working hard. now if theer stealing bread so there family can live thats a different story.

From Reuters:
"The fact that your car is being stolen isn't a legal justification for killing somebody," Deputy District Attorney Frank Somes said. "Generally, you're not allowed to kill people unless they are committing a violent felony or you are acting in self defense."

Sad but true. Criminals have more rights than the average citizen after and during the crime. You may not defend your property outside of your home. The "self defense" thing only floats if you let them beat you half dead before you kill them or they have a weapon.

If someone is stealing your vehicle by all means brandish a firearm but make sure they have one too and they are facing you...or just call 50 and your insurance company.

magixpuma - They can sue you for the loss of use of their legs in that case and win. "Welcome to the real world."
