I've often thought about getting the trunk tub. It would make for a flat surface back there and also give a storage spot for some small items.

It sounds like you have a totally stock 8?

I like the factory appearance pkg, but it is pricey. The mudflaps are okay. Have thought about getting the plastic trunk mat and the aldehyde air filter.

My fave cheap mods have been clear side markers and LED brake light bulbs. I bought the appearance pkg for my 8. Try the discount Mazda dealers on here and online. There is an Alabama dealer that offers decent discounts.

OEM appearance parts can be a bit pricey
Check vendors and other discounted parts at online Mazda dealerships
Then look at ebay.

Good Luck

what do you mean by worth it? most of it is for appearance so it's worth is dependant on what you find it to be. do you need the appearance package, rotary accents, strakes, tubs, nets, interior accents, etc? i don't think anyone is going to say that they add HP so it's just a matter of whether or not that is the mod you want to do to add to the look you're trying to pull off.

if it's the MS CAI, i would say it isn't worth it. get the AEM which is the same thing and save some money. if it's nav, i'd say get a portable and be able to update more easily and take with you if you are in a different car.

I was mainly curious if for basic wheel trim the norm was to go with the factory stuff,
or if looking for another source was better. I'm new to the RX-8 and Mazda in general.
Still feeling out the car. I put 300 miles on it into southern Ohio twisties over the
weekend. Familiar roads in a un-familiar car. It was fun, especially after I remembered to
turn off that stability management computer thing. Nothing like that on a del sol, LOL.

I personally wouldn't turn off the DSC, but that's me.

It is whatever you happen to like in terms of mods. Some people like to stick to keeping it to stock or only Mazda accessories. Some owners like to put on 3rd party body kits. Look at pics and figure out what you like. It's your money.

Exterior Appearance Forum/Section. There should be a thread on LED bulb replacements for the RX-8. It is very long and there are many pics. Most of us would recommend V-LED as the place to buy bulbs.

Careful with that, if you're familiar with an FWD car the recovery procedure for when you lose grip is not going to be a familiar action and DSC can save your ***. Turning it off got me into a rough accident (well, turning it off and being stupid).

At the very least, make sure you only turn it off when it's dry and warm out until you're really really familiar with what happens when the back end kicks out.
