Hey, to each his own I say. Personally, I use the cost/utility approach. For me the 27500 i paid for my 8 gives me a nice blend of sportiness and ultilty(4 doors, etc). I must admit tho that I kept my 2 yr old Nissan sedan for the more mundane chores of driving to the bank, shopping, etc so as to keep my baby away from bozos dinging it in a parking lot. Leaving on vacation in 2 days and looking forward to taking the 8 on its first "long trip". Driving to Montreal/Quebec. Should be fun. Probably should pick up a radar detector before I leave. lol

Having written all that, I can understand why someone with an early-produced-car would get frustrated if the dealer failed to fix the A/C. And congrats on the S4! I love how my RX8 looks, but sometimes I wish it was more of a sleeper.

Lotus Esprit ($92K) is on its last leg and is only sold in the US this years and that is the end of this legendary car.
The Lotus Elise is the new light weight two seater which has a long waiting list and goes for $45K.
I have not driven the Elise but it is not a practical car with little storage, harsh ride but some say the best handling car in the world. It has a Toyota engine for the US market.

I have to say my number 1 complaint about my RX-8 is the heat. The A/C is inadequate, and the car runs hotter than most. Combined, it sux.
But, for now I can live with it. The rest of the car makes up for it.

2) Excessive heat and lack of sufficient shielding(heat shield installed already)
3) Lousy HVAC system that just did not keep the car cool in summer(new switch installed)
On the positive side this was a great handling car and fun to drive.
The replacement is an Audi S4, 340 BHP, 0-60 in 5.3 seconds.

I have an AT and I am quite satisfied with the power.
Best of luck with the new ride.
