Fan Running Abnormilly Long
Temps here as of late have been really hot upper 90's with humidex feels well past 100. Today brought my baby out for a scream.........got her to redline a few times and was having fun. Looked at temp gauge and it never reached midway point. When I got home parked her in the garage and shut her off. The fan engaged which I knew to be normal on a day like today. Hung around with garage oppened and noticed after a lengthy time fan was still running. Got to a point where I thought my battery was going to get drained so I poped the hood and pulled the cover of to get better ventilation.............Fan stoped a few minutes afterwards. I say all in all it remained running close to 13 min. Just wondering if anyone had experienced this before and if it's normal. Thnx Guys

Let me get this straight..
It was warmer than usual outside, you beat on the car, and the fan stayed on LONGER than normal?!?!?!?!?!
It sounds to me like your car got a little warmer than usual! This is an outrage! SUE MAZDA!

Why are so many people surprised when the fan stays on? My '75 VW Rabbit did the same thing. I would've thought many cars had this feature by now, but I guess not.

I've been noticing that my fan doesn't come on after I park, even on a hot day (it has a few times in the past, but not recently). Has anyone heard of a malfunction with the fan?
The other thing is that I make sure to let the car cool down considerably after Ive driven hard. I'll will typically stay below ~4k rpm for a couple of mins before I park, and I try to cruise at least 45-50 mph or so in 5th or 6th gear at some point during the cool down time to allow for plenty of fresh air flow.
