+1

I worked at a TV station once and I actually saw reporters and producer edit out the "normal" folks from a report because, well, you get WAY more coverage by having a 16 yo punk bragging about driving 100mph in a school zone in his awesome ride than by showing the instructors, racers, tuning shop managers, club representatives and mature owners saying this is stupid and should be kept for the track.

Believe me, if you think what you're seeing on TV is information, you're sadly mistaken. You wouldn't believe how much they twist and turn reality to have a "good story".

I've done 75mph before................ but that was in a 75 zone

HA HA...

Sounds like a set up to prove RX8 drivers drive too fast. Then they can use the post to validate pulling us all over.

Well you can tell WPXI that i do 190MPH on the I 95 with my quad turbo Honda Civic with a ZX1318 motor swap. I also got Uber Stage Tein cut drop springs which allows me to cut in and out through rush hour traffic while doing 130mph. I've never gotten a speeding ticket because i have a jet black space primer that reflects all radars and heat wave sensors.

I'm so fast, i can fix your **** eye.

JUST IN! PURSUIT FOOTAGE!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib0M8sb06wk

Hey Karen, here's some vid footage you'll have to edit for length, but this is really good at showing what we all pretty much do anytime we get a chance, ya know, like you wanted, driving fast. Notice how are great car is pretty much unstoppable it's so awesome!

I think most of this was some guy heading for his dealership for the lastest recall so he could pick up the speed a bit before his next oil change (the RX-8 can go thru the 'lub ya no!).

Maybe we can set up something for you live?

the last thing i want is RX8club being on the news because someone wanted 15 minutes of fame and called her up..

Yes, I think you should ban her and delete the thread.

This is another reporter looking to make car enthusiasts look bad. They want to record this so that they can play it on a slow news day. I can see the headline now.

SPEEDING MADMEN ENDANGER ALL THOSE YOU LOVE WHILE SPREADING COMMUNISIM AND THEY PROBABLY RAN OVER YOUR DOG WHEN YOU WERE A CHILD EVEN THOUGH YOUR PARENTS TOLD YOU THAT HE WENT ON VACATION TO JAMAICA

In fact, it will probably be a lot like this story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ9_85d0Mhk

They'll find the dumbest ricers out there who think they're tough and make the rest of us look bad. Just like in the video.

No need to ban her or close the thread. Not like she's a spammer or uses foul langauge. And everyone is having a lot of fun ridiculing her. Good outlet, it probably means there will be less aggression available to beat up the next newbie who innocently asks a frequent question.

Maybe move it to the Lounge, but let it live.

You know what? Watching that "report" really angers me... That kind of shoddy journalism has people in this country believing all kinds of junk.

Now, I do not street race based on a risk vs. reward calculation... It just ain't worth it when I can save up some money and save it for the track (at which point I can get alot more enjoyment since I can focus on the car's performance, not on looking out for cops)... However, I have no real problem with street racers of the variety that go find some desolate road in the middle of the night and do their thing. Frankly, there are better ways to use taxpayer dollars and police manpower than chasing around a bunch of kids... If they're stupid enough to be out there racing, whatever... Darwinism will take care of itself quicker without police intervention...

I do have issues with retards who would race on crowded streets, or weave through traffic at 100mph... You should stop those people. But instead you come after me for window tints or a loud exhaust. WTF?

And as for fining spectators, what kind of retarded **** is that? Say what? They were going to race? You are fining people for what they intended to do? For what they were thinking? Guess what, you have NO RIGHT to tell me what to think... Then again, true freedom of expression left this country a long time ago, so no surprises here...

And "illegal modifications"?? Yes that kid had nitrous, and no he shouldn't be using it on the street, but I hate this mentality that doing anything to your car is supposed to be illegal. I'd much rather be driving around the highway in the company of people who work on their cars and keep them well-maintained than those rust buckets I see flying around...

<rant off> too tired to deal with this properly... perhaps a nice angry letter to the news channel would be in order....

who wants to film a news story about overzealous journalists who shelve away the truth and then proceed to say whatever they want - a disgrace to the profession? these are the times I am glad not to own a tv....

To the original poster - you will indeed find many more takers on the honda forums. If you are looking for a sensationalist story about street racers, real car enthusiasts will not play into your hand...
