Its possible..he already laid down ~1000whp with the setup he had before on 25psi or something like that. PR has 13b's pushing 1100whp...and track built 20bs are probably around 1600whp so I'd say that 1200 is streetable...it would only take 25-30psi with the right setup and that is not insane on a rotary.

a stock 20B is rated at like 300HP and 300TQ(I'm guessing at the flywheel).....but can def be made a monster street car......600 HP on the street is perfect IMHO!...

90% of the people I've came across that own a sportscar, only care about what the HP number is. 99% of those people have never fully learned to drive the car they are in, to the full potential and actually used that HP.

While I do agree with your overall train of thought, there is one significant wrench on your track, however. Price. Obviously, the price gap between an RX-8 an a Dodge Viper is rather significant. And if you think the modding bug ends once you get a $100k car, think again. If it's in your blood, you're going to do it. Get a Viper, you're soon dumping $20k on a Hennessy built motor and twin turbo kit, $5k on better brakes, $6k on custom coilover suspension, etc etc. See what I mean?

One could argue the price gap narrows once you put parts in the 8, but again, the modding bug doesn't end if that's what you do.

Of course it also boils down to handling, overall exterior aesthetics (I won't drive a Mustang even if it's fast because I think they are ugly...) and so on.

But I do 100% agree the people who talk big hp numbers but have no clue how to drive their car. The Rx-8, in stock form, exceeds in driving capabilities 99% of the people that own it, even those that track their car. But does that mean you're not allowed to put parts on your car? No.
