I love that? Today was the third time I have had someone ask me something like that at a gas station.

 

Someone asked me yesturday if mine was a Lexus??? I was kind of offended by that. I hate when you tell them who makes it and they say "Oh, so what does that cost?"

 

A kid walking with his dad asked him the same thing when I was sitting at a redlight the other day!

 

Back in the "old days" (2003ish), I used to get asked if my 8 was a Viper, but that hasnt happened for a long time.

 

LOL--I get all kinds of question like that. I remember when I had my FD in undergrad--this guy was like "I SEE YA DRE IN THA VIPER!" I was like if you see a Viper you don't see me potna

 

I like how someone can be standing right behind it, but they can't read the bright silver badges, and have to ask you what it is. Then I tell them it's the Special Edition Viper and they're like WHOAAA! I just stand in awe that they can't read the bold letters 4 feet away!

 

honestly, you have to be pretty stupid to guess a mazda for a ferrari.

i wouldn't take it as a compliment, but as a clue to most people's idiocy.

 

Thankgod i thought i was tghe only one hehe, I was asked, told, whatever...if my car was a ferrari, porsche, corvette, Mercedec-Benz, the listy keeps going that is some funny ****.

 

The best is when, once they figure out what it is and say "Oh sweet I heard those had that special engine....how many cylinders does it have again....?"

Well, if your average non-car-person sees a low, curvy, swoopy, aggresive-looking car with a sexy, alien purr of an exhaust note . . . especially in Velocity Red . . . "Ferrari" is honestly not a bad guess.

I once saw a post somewhere on this board where someone's 8 had been mistaken for a Mustang. When I read that I thought, "what a moron."

Then one night I saw a Mustang (an 03 or 04 model - not the new one) sitting beside mine. I was amazed. They have the same proportions and the same general lines! Obviously they are very different when you look at them, but now I understand how a Mazda novice could say that....
