a few questions.

i was topping off the 8 today with oil, when i slipped and spilled a bit. i know i spilled it. but i don't see any of it under the car or anywhere in the engine bay. it was right next to the add oil spot. should i be concerned with anything, wash it off when its cool?

and my car doesnt start on first crank anymore. used to start up within half a second, now its like 2. very noticeable. any reason why it would do that and what would cause it? i miss instant start up

The oil spill will be right on top of the engine, and take a long while to drip off. maybe next time you wash the engine bay, put a good shot around the filler pipe.....

sounds like the first signs of a battery on the way out.

dangit. i was hoping it would just drip right off. well what would happen if i were to just leave it there. it wouldn't crawl its way into anywhere harmful would it?

The oil will burn off, it typically will find its way to the intake manifold and sit in the grooves, might smell a little and smoke a bit. I would not wash the motor, you can mess up some electrical connections in the long run doing those things but if you choose to dont over do it and cover up as many electrical things as possible, I still dont recommend it though. It will eventually burn off/fall off with driving. We run 18 a day and spill oil often on them, not the end of the world. As for it not starting right away.....I hate to say it but cleaning the throttle body would help but might also knock things lose and send them straight into the motor, pull the spark plugs and brush them off. Its not always the battery, the cranks will be slow when the battery goes.

Manual for the car says it can take up to 10 seconds to turn the motor over. Just a thought.

wooo thanks guys. the start is just random and i decided to go out for a bit of spirited driving today (got out of school early) with no one on the road. i just took a few of my favorite roads and did a bunch of 2nd gear pulls on the on ramp. and i see no trace of it. on the engine at least.

the thing handles so well!. can't wait to get to a hpde
