Question A few questions?

Ok so long story short i bought an RX-8
2004 Auto.

Guy thought the engine was blown and was 100% sure that the trans was shot,
spewed out 4 quarts of ATF Within 3 minutes lol.

So i paid 1,200 for the car.

Had a guy come over and he got the engine running. ( rough )
was majorly flooded. new plugs etc.

also did a compression test 98 rotor 1, 69 rotor 2,
however he said since it's flooded those numbers will go up.

so then i towed it to transmission shop, paid 2,700 for complete trans rebuild
just got car back yesterday.

Weird things now. I thought the cat was clogged so did the shop because loss of power, or low compression etc car wouldn't rev above 6k etc.

well yesterday i took it out on hwy 90 and opened it up and what do you no,
it revs all the way to redline now and to me feels like i am hauling ***.

and once i did that now my check engine light no longer comes on.
like i burned off a bunch of carbon and everything is ok now? or what?

Just a little confused.

maybe it's the premix i put in the tank? idk?

rx8 man, why would your post get deleted? We're not overbearing here. Your post is within the rules of the site.

04RX8TX, those are not the compression numbers you would get if a proper test was done. That looks like it was done with a standard compression guage. A proper test, performed by a dealer, will measure the compression of each lobe of the rotor. Your test gets the average compression of the whole rotor. You should also get the engine codes from the ECU to see if there are any surprises there.
I hope the car works out for you. If it does, it will end up being quite a deal.

How much do you want to bet?
Seriously though, the only time people get hammered is when they ask questions that have been asked dozens of times before. Basically, when it's obvious that the person asking the question hasn't done the least bit of research on their own (i.e. searching the forums or reading stickies).
