Finally!
The plan was to get a black 8 in 2 weeks.
and today i finally decided to get a test drive.
1st impression was that i had to crank the car for 5 secs before it started....... sounded like it didnt want to go or the battery is dead? is it normal for a 8 to do that?
The power was there, but low end torque did lack abit i thought..... i tried sitting in the back seats and i came to a conclusion that the rear passengers cant see anything infront of them lol the front seats basically cover up all the views...
The interior was nicer than my friend's 350Z but i still thought Mazda could have done better since this is not a cheap car, it was nice... but still retained a kind of plastic look to them..
The gear box was nice and smooth and the sound of the engine was different neverthless.... it was great!
Didnt quite hear any exaust tone...or was it just me?
Overall it was quite a good experience and i'll be rolling in mine in 2 weeks :p
R-magic front lip, Autoexe sideskirts, Mazda appearance package rear skirts here i come!

It's a bit unsettling at first, but it can take a few more cranks than a normal piston engine to get the Renesis started. If you happen to see any RX-8 exhaust videos, you'll hear that it cranks differently than a normal (read: boring!) car. I read in the fantastic English car magazine CAR that one of their journalists was similarly concerned about the way the RX-8 started up too.
The interior is leaps and bounds over the 350Z. Yes some of the material is a bit cheap, but it's evident that Mazda put their money into the design and not the materials. I think it's one of the best interior designs in years.
The RX-8 does have a decent exhaust sound. I've stood outside it when I let others test drive it and it makes a nice enough noise. Still, I'm highly impressed by the Borla exhaust...it sounds like an evil superbike bent on world destruction! :D
Congrats on the choice though! You've picked an awesome color, hehe.

Mine occasionally took longer to start, but after I read about "Initializing" its starts right up. The idea is to turn the key to ON, then wait a few seconds until some of the indicator lights come on and then go out, then crank.

Over here its kinda common sense to wait for the indicator lights to go on and the go off then start the engine. You gotta let the computers prepare and do their "thang".
