Finally Getting an 8 (Hopefully!)
ADHD/ADD Version: After 2+ years of wanting an '8, I'm closing soon on an 05 Titanium Gray.
Way back in April '05 I was four months into an all-expenses paid, year-long vacation at scenic Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, courtesy of Prez Bush. I had little to preoccupy me after each duty day other than to watch my savings account grow fat on tax-free war zone pay. I began to think, if I somehow managed to escape this desert paradise in one peice, what I'd do with that money when I got back home.
"2 chicks at the same time! " a voice in my pants said.
"That, or a nice car," I said to myself.
"...So we can get with 2 chicks at the same time!" exclaimed my trouser-snake.
Since I'm no Kevin Federline, I knew I would need something special to impress the ladies. I looked over what various manufacturers were offering and quickly decided that the RX8 was the only car in the ~$30k bracket that seemed to defy the trend in boring styling that seems to have become the calling card of the automotive industry in the past decade. Also, the technology geek in me couldn't get enough of the engine. Surely Mazda had hired ninjas to design this engine. Engine Ninjas...with throwing stars...and light sabers.
I spent most of my free time after April browsing through these forums, learning more about the car and living vicariously through those of you who were already living the rotary dream.
Eventually my tour ended, and I returned home. A year quickly passed as I re-united with my friends and family, moved out of my parents' house back to Madison, celebrated when I got my Honorable Discharge papers from the Army, and started up a web-design business (that I wasn't motivated enough to stick with). Basically, I decided I really didn't need an RX8, and put it out of my mind.
Early May 07 rolls around. On a whim, I typed RX8Club.com into my browser. I looked through my favorite haunt, the Major Horsepower Upgrades forum, and then checked out what was going on in the midwest regional forum. The next day, I returned to the forums. A few days after that, I changed my homepage to RX8Club.com. I began looking at used 05's on the internet regularily, "just for fun," I told myself.
After about a month of checking the used car search engines/eBay, I randomly looked back at a base 05 Titanium Gray 6-speed I'd liked that was previously listed at $19k. The price had dropped 2 grand . I could no longer resist...no, I was powerless to resist!
The last two days have been a dizzying whirl of back and forth phone conversations with the dealership, my credit union, my parents, etc. As of tonight, as a result of all my hard work, I have:

- A loan
- A plane ticket
- Dealership-provided transportation from airport to lot
- Dealer installing strakes and clear corners that I'm bringing with.
- A grin from ear to ear

First of all, thanks everyone for the kind replies.
I was being sarcastic .
Thank you hough2696 and Jethro Tull.
MazdaJeff- No delivery. The plan is to drive my new baby home (abt 15 1/2 hours!).
Rems31 - I'd have to make sure 2 of them were real "shorties" (referring to the small back seats).

I'm pretty much past the point of no return - if I find out this car is a lemon I'll just find another. Shouldn't be a problem though, as this car is still under warranty.
