It finally happened!

After following the development of this car for more than five years, and being on this board for nearly two, and obsessing for the better part of a year, I finally took the plunge.

Last night I closed the deal and drove home in a Brilliant Black RX-8! Yay for me!

I bought it from John Kennedy Mazda in Conshohocken, PA. My sales guy (Patrick Latimer) was very easy to work with, and cut me a deal slightly over invoice.

Like I said before, I've been following this car for a long time. I've wanted another rotary car ever since I traded my RX-7 on an Integra GSR nearly five years ago. My Integra was a good car, but I always missed the whir of that rotary.

Driving home on the turnpike last night, no radio on, just the sound of the RX-8's Wankel...Damn.

A few miles outside of the city proper.

great news Ronin! my freinds and i used to call the area around the McD's in Conshy the "danger zone" you know the one with the iron fence with the spikes on the top? once saw someone stripping a car in the parking lot there, in the middle of the afternoon, amongst other things

Sounds like you got a good deal Ronin, and congratulations on the car! I like that dealer. They've treated me pretty well. I just wish that it was open when I bought my car, then my sales experience might have been a little better. Have a good one, and think about coming to some of the Tri-state club meets. We're always happy to have new 8s there. - Haze

I agree - black is a great color except it's frightfully difficult to keep clean and shiny... It seems like it's only a few hours before I have a dust layer on the car impeding my nice shine....

Exactly why I can never bring myself to buy black. I am afraid of a bad wash and or wax job. One reason I got the green is because it almost looks black at night. I know that as dark as the green is, a bad wash/wax would be almost as hard to hide. I just don't trust myself with black. I rather just enjoy looking at all the VERY responsible and skilled BB washer/waxer rides.

I've only seen a couple of RX-8's on the road, and only one of them was black (other than mine). The black one was heading south on 202 a couple of weeks ago. I even gave the guy a thumbs-up, but he must not have seen me or cared, 'cause I got no reaction. Of course, I was in my Integra at the time.

Maybe he thought I flipped him off.
