Finally happened - fender bender in RX-8
Well I guess I should say it's a rear bumper bender. I was driving on westbound I635 ( far left lane ) in Dallas last night and there we a couple of vehicles in the left shoulder so all the cars in the left lane started slowing down quickly. I was able to slow easily to not the car in front of me but I looked in my rear view mirror and saw a car closing quickly. I eased up on my brakes because the traffic did not come to a complete start ( 5 - 10 mph ) and the car ran into me.
I pulled up about 100 ft and pulled into the left shoulder ( what there is of one in that area ), but the vehicle did not. It was dark and I all I saw coming was lights and did not see which of the cars whizzing by it was that hit me. I walked back to the other two vehicles and asked if they saw the car looked like that hit me and they said they weren't paying attention and did not see.
The damage is minimal, just the passenger side of the bumper has hole and crack about the size of a silver dollar and the paint scratched off about a foot long. I called the insurance this morning and explained to them and issue a new claim. They said since it was on the rear bumper and could tell it was not my fault it would not be a chargeable claim and won't affect my rates.
Next week I'll be looking for a good body shop in the Dallas area. Any one have a recommendation.
Well, that's about it. Not that much damage and certainly could be worse but I am a little ticked off at the jerk that didn't have the courtesy to stop and decided to just hit-and-run.
thanks for listening/reading

Some sick sonofabitch decided I was taking too long in the tollbooth and deliberately rammed me. It was one of those automated "exact change" ones and it wasn't taking my money so I kept pitching nickels in. This dude was already stopped behind me when he put his mustang in gear and gassed it into my bumper. He backed up and took off before I could get a plate number. This was on the Dallas North Tollway. The cops were no help, they were even nice enough to explain that not all toll stations have camera's. Just to let all the Dallas area owners know, You don't have to pay your toll at the Keller springs station since there is no camera there. Spread the word!! If they won't investigate a hit and run then I doubt they'd make any effort for a missed toll. What's wrong with dallas drivers anyway?

Thanks for the sympathy and condolences.. I'll be out looking for a good body shop in the Dallas area. The insurance agent said to just fill out the 'blue form' for hit-and-run accident, that I can pick up at the police station, and bring it to him and then the accident will go under my uninsured deductible whick is $250 so that's good news.
