Finally on my Honeymoon
So finally, 14 months after my RX-8 and I were joined in union, we have gone on our honeymoon.
When I got the car, I never intended to drive it a lot. And I haven't. It's a toy, mostly, and I drive it around town on weekends, and only drive it to work on weekends, when I can have a huge chunk of the parking lot all to myself. I'm still not ready to get that first door-ding yet. But this past week has been different. We've had an engineering project going on at work, and my shop is required to have 24-hour manning to support it. Nobody wanted to do the back 12-hour shift, so I volunteered (easy to get my snooze on during the slow times ). I figured what the hell, since back shift has so few people, I can still park all to my lonesome, so for the past week, the 6 hasn't been driven at all (not even started), and I've taken the 8 to work every night.
I have really enjoyed it too. Mileage be damned; all this overtime will more than cover the gas I'm using. For the most part it's really smooth driving. When I take my normal route I have to go through a couple miles of roadwork, which get really bumpy and jittery since I'm sitting atop that sport suspension. But it's all smooth after that. And I'm reminded of just how badly the stock speakers suck. Good grief, it sounds like I've got a paper bag over my head when I listen to my CD's. But that's okay too; one of my projects next year will definitely be to replace those speakers. What's really important is getting to remember, every day for the past week, just how freaking fun this car is to drive. And damn, it looks so majestic sitting there all alone in the parking lot. I need to bring my camera one night. From any 45-degree vantage point (45, 135, 225, 315), I'm not sure if there's a better looking car on this earth. I see why you guys call it an addiction. People on the outside, will never really know.
Anyway, I'm about to clock in and make myself useful. I have 2 or 3 more nights before I'm back on day shift and the honeymoon ends. But until then, I shall enjoy...

I don't have the Bose. I'll just be dropping in speaker replacements when the time comes. The volume is satisfactory, but the sound quality is awful.
My Mazda6 had the Bose system and it sounded worse than the base system in the RX8. That's long gone though...

Rx8's bose stereo rocks, I still have the stock speakers and they sound awesome with my JL Subs. I love it! Most people who get in my car think its aftermarket.
