Finally my RX-8
Finally got a RX-8
Copper Red 6spd with Sand leather seats + appearance package + Rotary accents + Spoiler + even came with a cargo net. Everything but the nav system.
Thanks to everyone for answering my questions about the car. And for those who gave me some great color choices. I just had to wait and go with the Copper Red and now…
I like to join this strange cult you all have going here:
unique style sports car
1.3L Rotary engines, Zero cylinders, no pistons
an engine that makes a sweet humming noise
50/50 weight distribution
exceptional handling
seating a sports for 4, how could this be???
Two real doors and two freestyle rear doors that open backwards- Mazda doesn’t like ppl to call them suicide doors
Wow it’s damn hard to become a member. you need to have car with all these features
Good thing I got one of those
Wow I spent the whole weekend with my car. Picked her up on Saturday. Took her out for a test drive that morning and that was it. After the S-turn in my test drive I was sold…
Waited 6 hrs at the Mazda dealer for them to process the paper work and clean/ ready the car. Why do car dealers take so long washing/waxing, cleaning, and checking everything.
Took her home dropped 50 miles on it driving her home. The car was never driven before, think I was the first to test drive the car. It arrived to the dealer on Tuesday and after I test drove the car for 20min it only had 19 miles on it. So I think I was the first or second
This car handles exceptionally well. Driving this car is an absolute blast. An experience unlike any other. From the minute you turn the car to hear that sensational humming noise to the second you step on the gas this car will bring a smile to your face. Taking S-turns are an absolute treat in this car. Never have I driven a car so responsive on the turns. This car reminds you that its roots are from a tradition of rotary racing cars. It tells the driver that it is gripping the road extremely well and that it’s not afraid to accelerate through the turns. It may be lacking at low RPMs but pass 5K you’re waking up that Rotary monster. On the straights the car is about average, but on the twisty this car will shine and it shines bright.
Oh might I add people will notice the RX-8. I spent 6 hrs at the dealership while the paperwork was being processed and almost everyone including other techs and salesman were staring at my RX.
Mazda put it best by their childish phrase but believe me when I say this- the feeling of “Zoom-Zoom” best describes the RX. I never understood why “Zoom-Zoom” until I driven the RX-8. Do not let this car’s Rotary engine fool you. This is one of those cars that reward the driver and reminds the owner what a spectacular choice he or she has made.
For those interested in the RX-8 seriously consider this car. It’s unlike any of the competitors (350 Z, G35- the car I originally wanted, S2K- unlike it because of the seating for four, but actually the S2K drives similar to the RX).
My First and not the last Rotary…
Mr. Wankel would be proud
Pics below took the shots while waiting at the dealer I’ll take more pics this weekend or next

Wow! Congrats. That's an excitement post if I've ever seen one. Gives me chills reading that because it reminds me of the day I drove mine home.
I can promise you this: you will be looking for any excuse to drive your 8 for the next several weeks... Wait i've had mine for over 7 months and I still look for excuses regardless of gas mileage.
Enjoy.
P.S. don't forget to change your "soon to be 8 owner" line under your name...

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome
I haven't decided on any mods yet. I wanted to get some clear corners but they on back order
Yea is was basically the Copper Red Color. the sand leather seats were a plus but the Copper Red RX-8 color was just too beautiful to pass.
There is not much difference between the GT package and the Shinka, except for color, and extra polish on everything.
Originally i wanted a Winning Blue or Silver RX-8 but when i saw a Copper Red 8 at the NY autoshow i knew i was waiting for the Copper Red 8.
I already got plans to take her out into the city this thrus and drive her all throughout the long weekend
Thanks again for all the positive comments
Loving every sec of the car no regrets

besides choosing a great car, was the color choice the second deciding factor for buying the Shinka or was it the upgrades in suspension?

Here's the break-in procedures for ya...
RACING BEAT
- For the first 1000 miles (1609km) do not accelerate under full throttle.
- During the first 1000 miles (1609km) do not exceed 4000 RPM.
- For miles 1000-2000 (3218km), expand the RPM upwards - but do not accelerate at full throttle.
- Over 2000 miles (3218km), full throttle and high RPM is acceptable.

Thanks again though. There are so many great 8 owners here
