FINALLY SAW RX-8's-They ARE at Revitup's - raw gallery from event
Hi folks,
Wow, I got to see and touch an RX. Very nice driver position and feel.
I've reviewed, drooled over the many slick styled photos of the car. The in-person experience is BETTER. The car looks less musclebound than some photos make out. Nice lines--for sure the RX has muscular looking lines, but in person it loses some of the weightlifter-like Hans-Franz bulge "pumped up" in some pix.
More interior shoulder driver room than my Miata. Good feel and driver position. As a long-torse guy, I'm a bit worried about there being enough room in the moon-roofed version for a helment. There's a bit more head space in the non-moon-roof version I sat in.
I have 30" legs and could sit behind the driver seat set for stubby legs. I fit in the back seat fine and I'm 6' tall overall--didn't have to twist sideways in back seat. But, it is "cozy" as reviews say. Long legged front seaters will squeeze back seaters.
RX could easily carry four folks to dinner or an hour-long ride. Trunk's a nice size, but opening is a bit tight. Heck, it ain't a wagon.
Check out the Mazada site for a Revitup near you. If you're hungry to see, sit in and touch and RX they say it will be at subsequent events. All Rev' staff very nice and say the RX's travel with the event.
Good driving instruction and dislays, good training videos and pro instructors. Course's slalom is a tad short, overall timed course fun. Pro driver match time is about 34 sec. Regular folks doing 37-43 sec.

Well I just signed up for the competition.. I figure if I am going to see the RX-8 I might as well compete. I have NEVER done anything like this before. Do you guys think I am crazy for doing the competition? I am hoping it will be a great learning experience.

Well.. I see you are in FL so I assume you are going to Miami.. I think ATL is before that so I will give you a heads up on just how "crazy" it might be. I am actually looking forward to it.

Picture showing Brammer(?) getting in the back seat -access to back seat looks awkward? Anybody have any experience with getting in and out of the backseats. Does the front seat tilt forward? thanks

Nahhh it was'nt bad at all. That seat must have been pushed pretty far back. You sit low and leaned back. Soo you have too pull yourself out because of the seating position not the opening.
P.S. The seats in back are really Comfy

If you are over 18 you can compete. If under, there's other stuff to do like the go-karts(not the Briggs & Stratton putt-putts either)
There's really no pressure, just pay attention during the chalk talks and check your ego at the door.
You will have a blast, Rotorboy! Best 40 bucks and a half-day you can spend.
