First Impressions after 1000 miles..
Yet another boring thread about how incredible the '8' is... but anyhow..
It's incredible!
Holding back during the initial 'break-in' period has been tough but I diligently followed all the advice here.. waited until I got past 900 miles.. and then took it out this morning and opened her up gently at first.... around some quiet little back roads.. and the damn car stuck like glue to the road. Simply amazing... Having driven a 350Z for a month... the '8' just wipes it off the floor with the quality of ride and precision of it's handling etc.. Sure, the Z has a bit more low end 'grunt' but in reality, unless I wanted to play 'silly buggers' at the lights.. (which I don't) I truly prefer the '8' by far!
No probs so far with anything.. A/C works great even here in the heat of an AZ summer.. nothing creaking or squealing... just fun and huge stacks of it!!
I am really impressed with the brakes... I bedded them down according to the instructions I found here.. and they work just perfectly.. Not too 'grabby' but smooth and very, very effective...
It's the way the '8' hugs the road though that is the outstanding feature for me.. and the fact it does it in style with plenty of room inside... and comfort!
Even the wife loves to take her out for a spin.. as a break from her Celica GT-S... So much so that this coming weekend we are going to go and trade in her Celica and pick up a Green GT AT for her...
Two 8's to play with.... Twice the fun.. Also be interesting to see, first hand, how the MT and AT handles differently...
Anyhow.. thats my thoughts.. Best car I have bought in a long time as far as fun, drivability and more fun are concerned!

Mag,
Take those bad boys on the road to Saguaro at night with the windows open. There are a lot of really nice curves and hardly any traffic at night. That is the most fun I have had in the 8!
By the way, what settings do you use on the AC, I just had my amplifier installed yesterday and it is still not very comfortable in the AZ sun....

So far, no probs with the A/C running on 2/3... Just got back from a 'fun' run to Coolidge (on the back roads...) and 104 / 107 outside but just fine inside though, as always it did warm up a bit when I parked at a MacDonalds for a few minutes.. However, back on the road and within a couple of mins it was nice and cool again.. Now, not as cold as my Solara.. but quite ok.. and being an Ex-Brit I am still not used to the heat out here so if it's cool to me it should be pretty fine for everyone else I would think.
The first '8' I took on a test run however, was very warm indeed.. even after being on the road for 15 mins.. That one was made in 12/03 where as the one I bought was made 04/04 so I guess they fixed the amp issue during that period?
Will be testing out the wife's one though to make sure it's A/C works as well as mine... before we buy.
