I've been here for a few years, just changed my username.

We need to "Swamp" mazda with emails and soon.

"The Kabura is just a concept. It was built out of parts of both the RX-8 and MX-5. The engine that is in there now is a stock MX-5. It is more of a design study than an engineering concept, since many of the parts under the skin are shared with existing platforms. It is no secret that the Rotary is expensive to build. For this concept a 4 banger is better, as we are in the business of selling cars.
With that said, we bring concept cars like this to autoshows to get a feel for how they might sell. We will take feedback from the concept, and make changes to production cars, or new cars in the line up based on the feedback. So, for example, if we received a flood of feedback on the need for a Kabura like rotary powered vehicle, we may put together a business plan Please tell readers to go to the www.MazdaUSA.com website and click on "contact us".
Just go to http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/contactMazda.action
We need to do this if we want more rotary cars and as explained in the article cheaper engines and cars too.

Flood has now been banned, now I'm having flashbacks.
I'm readin more on the web about the Kabura.
Mazda is sayin it's gonna be a cheap RWD car, but they have the miata even though it's a convertable here in japan it's also a coupe.
If you look close enough you can see in this pick what looks to be a rear door ala RX-8, look at it very closing above the rear wheel housing.
Could Mazda just be screwing with us

I still say Mazda is screwing with us
your right about the looks, but I still like it. From this angle the front end looks about the same size as the RX-8. If it's gonna be piston powered the engine is gonna be small and weak
It's screamin for a rotary
I gotta go see it in person. Pictures are just pictures

It could be either an RX-8 or an RX-7. If it's an RX-7 It has to have a lightweight frame and body panels so it doesn't go over 3,000 lbs. It still looks more like a next gen RX-8 because of the shape and size of it. Pay close attention to it when or if you ever see it at the car shows.

a lot of looks like the rx-8, but i like the current version more. not just because i own one i dont think. at least its a fairly bold concept, one id like to see the results in production.

The Kabura is supposed to be a Scion tC competitor. Thus, I really doubt it'll be a RX-8 or RX-7 type car. More info the in the section of the forum that's actually supposed to be talking about the Kabura.
In terms of "flooding Mazda now" make sure you actually contact Mazda about what you want to see, especially in regards to the rotary and RX-8 in general.
