Hello all, my second dream finally will come true tomorrow. I'll be flying north to pick up my 06 Silver 6-speed manual, black/red leather from Northern California tomorrow. Then drive it home 360 miles away slowly
Looking forward to share the full RX-8 experience with you all.

First dream was when I flew up north (again) and picked up a white '94 RX-7 from Putnam Mazda. Something about you guys up north that kept me coming back to get my RXs from, eventhough I don't like the Giants :-)

Neat - I went over 300 miles to get my brand-new RX-8 too. Dream car for me also.
Hope you have a smooth trip. You'll be half-way done with your engine break-in and completely in love with the car by the time you get home.
What route are you driving back? I-5? PCH?

Back home with my new RX-8
I took the I-5, won't be much fun to take hwy 1 when you can't go over 6000rpm. Ride home was a smooth ride, loving the car so much. The manual states that I shouldn't go over 6000rpm the first 600 miles and not to do constant speed for too long, which is sorta hard to do an a long boring straight I-5. Well, I did stay below 6000rpm at any time, see pic below for proof.
Gas report, my first full tank of gas only last 225miles before the light comes on, so I fill it up again at 240miles, this is all freeway driving below 6000rpm. Not complaining, since I know about the gas mileage on this car, especially when it's new.

Congrats, I'll have to go 110 miles to get mine, but still have a few months worth of articles to do before I can wrap up my Mustang Project. I want to see if I can make enough money by the end of the summer that I can buy an RX-8 for cash! LOL I want to freak out the sales people!

Thanks guys, I'm definitely one of the happiest dude on the planet now
. Btw, cleoent, yes I did mix up the rpm throughout the trip, but still mainly between 3000 to 5500 due to freeway driving.
And yes, I'm glad to be part of the cult , lol.
Good luck on your project Munkey

Nice, growing collection you have there! That 7 is sweet, and you picked the best color for the 8.

Cool I drove 200 miles to get mine.
Take care of that sucker. In my 1st month of ownership I have curbed the right rear wheel (first day actually), had a rock chip hit my front windshield and backed out into a parking lot pole (so now I need a new bumper and front windshied)

Congrats on the new ride. I'm new to the board, and your post caught my eye. I just brought mine home on Monday. Didn't drive as far as you did, but I did have to go to Nevada to get it. I'm in the Bay Area, looked at Putnam, and they didn't have what I wanted. I'm glad it worked out for both of us.
Mine = Brilliant Black.

No problem
Now I just need to make sure it's protected. Waffling on using a full nose mask or partial or a clear. Any suggestions?
rxChris, where in the Bay are you?

Congrats Tanic. So let's see, you went 400 miles west to get yours, Cal went at least 200 miles east and I flew 400 miles north; boy we do anything to get our RX8s
