Following Proper Warm Up Procedures
Hi all,
I'm about 2 weeks out from receiving delivery of my '06 RX-8, GT, Auto.
I was pretty skeptical about the inherent problems I've read with this car....low fuel mileage and flooding. However, IMO the good points outweight the bad, and it is an awesome car.
I would like to know how many people flooded their engines on an '06 model after properly warming up the engine to operating temperature, and never shutting off the engine cold? It seems to me that ensuring a thorough warm-up should eliminate the possibility of flooding completely, or am I mistaken?
I ask this because being in the military, I will be using this car to travel long distances often. Although I can deal with low gas mileage, I can't afford to have the car not "Run" even after everything possible on the user's side is done, i.e., proper warmups and no cold shut downs.
Any input would be grateful!

As long as the temperature gauge is half way, you don't have to worry about flooding. As for long distance travel, its actually better on mileage and you could do some de-carboning at the same time. Go get it...
