Lightbulb Ford gets Sirius

Ford gets Sirius

Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo will begin offering satellite radio systems on certain models beginning in 2003 under an agreement with Sirius Satellite Radio. Ford joins DaimlerChrysler, BMW and Nissan (and Infiniti) as Sirius users, while General Motors is offering satellite radio via competitor XM Radio.
While this ews article does not specifically mention Mazda, we all know the connection with Ford.
Sirius currently is $9.95 per month and the competing XM is $14.95 a month. Cheaper is better even if soem staions have commercials.

:p

Thumbs up Hey, it's news to me!

Guess I'm just not as connected ... This forum has become my main source for all of my "late breaking" auto news ...

Same here. Doesn't matter how old the news is, some people (like me), don't get the news in the ways that you guys do. So tell us all!

does anyone have satalite radio? Im wondering if they have good stations or if its like every other radio station in the world that plays the same songs over and over again? $10 is $10 too much if im never happy with what im listening to. I like to hear different kinds of music but i can see it being very difficult to find stations i like with 100's of radiostations.

I have read in several other articles that Mazda will be partnered with Sirius.

You had the prices wrong though. Sirius is 12.95/mo 100% commercial free music (some commercials on news stations, etc). XM is 9.95/mo with about 30 commercial free channels. However, those channels that are commercial free are NOT the newest music. Its all the old country and stuff. Hip Hop, Rap, Alternative, New releases, all have commercials.

I have listened to satellite radio at Best Buy. It is absolutely amazing. The sound quality is CD level, and I was very impressed with the Sirius channel and music selection. They do a great job of mixing it up, and if you hear a song you don't like, there are plenty more where you should be able to find something you enjoy. I was thinking of getting Sirius with my Kenwood deck in my 626, but I don't drive all that much, and when I do it is usually 10-15 mins max. I kinda wonder if I'd get my money's worth, ya know. But if I had a big commute, or spent a lot of time in the car, I'd have it already.

You can listen to Sirius streams on the net. It is digital sound, so it is actually quite good. Sounds even better in real life. Check it out at http://www.sirius.com

Glad to see it will be ready to go in future Mazdas.
