You can order the license plate mount from Mazda. I just priced one at $44.00. No drilling necessary.

 

No front plate required in this state. For awhile - back about 10 years ago - the State passed a law that you had to run one plate - on the front. It was some sort of a deal that the State police pushed through because of truckers. Seems plates were getting destroyed at loading docks and were unreadable. Of course, when you're chasing a car it's real hard to read the front plate.

Didn't take long for rationality to set in and the law was repealed.

I say no on hurts cooling. If you look close at the grille it is not all open only the bottom section which is more for air to the vfad unit, the plate doesn't really block much and the air for cooling is directed through the air dam
