Found Black RX8 Mazda Emblem

I found a site that sells black mazda rx8 emblems. My plan is to use carbon fiber vinyl on a black emblem on the new hood.

http://www.rvinyl.com/carbonfibervinyl.htm This is the vinyl

http://www.streetunit.com/StreetUnit...p/surx8boe.htm is the badges.

fyi you could also use the carbon fiber vinyl to save yourself a lot of money and wrap the center console trim pieces instead of buying real carbon fiber trim pieces.

I don't know about applying an emblem to the hood....... although I guess it would be original being I've never seen it done.

It depends on the carbon fiber that you buy, but what do you mean feels like carbon fiber? My hoods carbon fiber and it feels like glass since its UV coated heavily.

so wait a minute, your going to wrap the black emblem in cf vinyl on a hood?

or are you going to wrap the hood in cf vinyl and put the emblem on the hood?

both seem odd because i have never seen an emblem on the hood. but unless your debadged [on your front bumper] your going to have Mazda emblems in the front of your car?

also that site selling the black mazda emblems seems like a ripoff. just take off the existing mazda emblem [fishing line or dental floss with a heat gun or hair dryer.] and paint it yourself. its pretty simple if you take your time and do not rush things. that would probably cost you around 1o -15 bucks for primer/black paint and clear.

I am getting a new front bumper, and I am also getting a CF trunk. I already have a CF hood. The new front bumper isn't mounted for badges, so more than likely what will happen now is the RX-8 emblem will be all that gets put back on. It will be black with CF overlay then mounted center on the rear of the car. I have been thinking about getting either a rotary emblem badge or some kind of just RX-8 for the front of the car. I posted this months ago before I destroyed the front bumper.

if i were you when you add the badges id shave/cut off whatever they use to mount with and just applying 3m tape so if you want to debadge later it is easy and you dont have new holes.

you will have to order test samples and decide that for yourself. It does have to be applied with a hair dryer so its a little thicker than you think

i actually ordered some of that 3m tape to sample it so i can wrap a few things in my car and yeah its a little thick, but its very flexible and it can stretch when u put enough heat on it, also it does have some texture to it, so it dosent feel like a sticker
