Free Tank of Gas from dealer

So, I took my car in yesterday for the emission recall and to get an oil change. I dropped the car of w/ a little under a 1/4 of a tank. When I come to pick the car up I notice that I have a full tank of gas. No, they didn't charge me for it. I paid $22 for the oil change and that was it. I figure they just sent the bill to MNA and got them to pay for the tank of gas since hey had to do the emission testing. Just thought I'd share, not too often you get something free from a dealer.

Yep, they are supposed to wash your car and top off your gasoline after the recall.

Cool. I just got a free oil change honoring my expired coupon that i had. She put down good will honor. Also got a free loaner too for the oil change. I dont think theyre suppose to give me a loaner for just an oil change, maybe for warranty repaired item. I think Mazdas dealers are a mix. Some treat you well, some dont give a damn.

I've had mixed experiences with this dealership's service department. Past couple of times they've been very accomodating and let me double up coupons (on those outrageous "dealer recommended services" and replacing 3 tires at seperate times b/c of f-ing nails) I guess they figure that as much money I've dropped up there they might as well be nice.

Yea, they asked if I wanted a loaner. But my wife was outside waiting in her car. Oh well.

" They drive your car for 20 or so miles and let it idle for approx 25 minutes"

not in all cases, if ur cars runnin perfect and u dont have a history of problems all u need is a cat inspection and a reflash and thats all they need to do.

sometimes the whole recall work takes only 30 minutes not including gas and washing.

if ur dealer isnt gasing it and washing it id make a fone call if i were u.

It also calls for a CX-7 loaner. But not all dealers will get you that.
I asked for the CX-7 loaner but got a Toyota RAV. I was told that Mazda will not supply a maxda vehicle as a loaner

??? You're not actually replacing tires through the dealership, are you??

Unless the nails have somehow made their way into your sidewalls, you can repair the tire at a much better price. Plug outside, as a temp fix, then have the inside repaired.

Your dealer must love you.

oh, and on the topic at hand - the fill up & wash (in & out) are paid for by Mazda as part of the recall.

Of course on the 3 separate occasions with nails in the tire it was not repairable, dealership or tire store. Yea, I had them replaced at the dealership, mostly b/c of location and what was in stock. At that time I really didn't have the time to sit around an wait until someone could order the tire, so I just bit the bullet and paid the extra $20 at the dealer. The way I looked at it was pay a little extra at the dealer and get it fixed immediatly or have to call around to find a tire store that could fix it.

some of the dealerships are part of the MCode program and will do the CX7 but most are not so you end up with whatever they feel like.

Got the recall on Monday and they did not give me any gas or a CX-7 or anything. Just spark plugs. I don't think those two things are mandatory but if I'm wrong let me know and I'll head there tomorrow morning since I'm at 1/4 tank right now

I asked for them to not wash my car. I also considered asking for them to not gas it up since I wouldn't know what gas was going into the car, but I decided that gas was just too expensive at the time to give up. Yes I'm a control freak.

I got the gas and the wash. They did a lousy job on the wash, and I think that the fillup wasn't a complete fillup, but just enough to register full. I didn't get the mileage out of that tank that I usually do.

they wouldn't have any need or obligation to fill it if they didn't do the test drive portion. as for the CX7, they probably aren't part of the program so neither of those are things you should go back for and complain about.

lol. You're not the only one. There have been other posts raising similar concerns. I brought it in w/just under 3/4 tank. Really wanted the extra 30 bucks on Mazda's tab, but who knows what kind of cheap *** sludge they put in to save skim a few bucks?!! I figured ~4 gallons of crap would mix in w/the good stuff already in the tank . . .

CT - they are supposed to fill the tank & wash in&out as part of the recall service regardless of the results. It was (is?) part of the whole "white glove" tx.

i haven't taken mine in yet as i have yet to receive the letter and frankly i'm not in much of a hurry to visit my local stealership. they mentioned they would do it without the letter but i'm trying to delay the inevitable yet. however, from reading many of the posts of those that have gone in, the ones that seem to be getting the free gas are the ones that have it driven (or just have a good dealership that isn't trying to be cheap). it makes sense though if they don't drive it, why should they fill it up?

i say this now but when i finally break down and get it done i'm sure i'll ask them before they start that they follow what is in their letter and fill her up and wash my baby before i get it back.

It is in the letter the dealers get from Mazda. That letter is around here - definitely posted by Zoom44 in the monsterous recall thread - but probly somewhere else that's easier to find. But it certainly seems to be a question of good vs. bad dealerships. GL

My whole dealer service dept. was fired the new crew is great. I think I might have had a little to do with it. Mazda reps called after one of my services and I laid into them told them I was planning on buying another RX-8 when the MazdaSpeed comes out in '08' but I won't buy from them.

They not only did the recall washed my car filled the tank and gave me a 2006 Ford F150 4x4 which was cool cause it was a change sitting so far up. After I got my car back it felt so much faster, but I think it might just be that I drove that slow as heck Ford for a couple of days that made it feel like that.
