Alright, so I met a guy with an 8 the other day that lives close by and he has a problem. He bought a Titanium Gray with some rims already on it. They are BT Speed black rims with a polished lip. His problem is, he didn't get the key for the lugsnuts. So what does he do to get them off?

I take it he has tried to contact whoever sold him the car and get it from them?

If that did not work then i'd contact the manufacturer of the rims

Either contact the person he bought the car from or contact the maker of the lug nuts

Well, I figure he has already contacted the person he bought the car from...anyone with any intelligence would do that first, so I'm hoping he already did that. And as far as contacting BT Speed, I couldn't find anything on Google about the rims besides a site that sells them. How would he find out who makes the lugnuts?

A dealer or a tire shop would have an extractor to remove the locks. Looks like a socket, but with a spiral edge on the inside - like a screw extractor. People have posted links to that kind of thing in prior "How do I get the wheel locks off?" threads.

Thieves will take a socket slightly smaller than the lock and pound it on.

On Invasion08's "contact the nut maker" suggestion, Mazdas usually come with ones made by McGard http://www.mcgard.com/ . If it's theirs, they might be able to help.

Thanks, I'll tell him to take it to a shop and see if they have an extractor.

Alright, scratch the idea about the extractor. He says the holes where the lugs go is to small to fit a socket of any sort sooo...I guess he will have to contact the site that sells the rims and see if they can help him out. One more thing he wanted to know (I searched) was is there anyway you can play DVDs on the stock nav screen??

yeah I'd have him call the seller and see if they can find out who makes the nuts or patch him through to the wheel company

Also, I would try calling some local automotive places and see if they have something to try and get the lugs off. I konw you said you think it is too small for the socket tool, but other places may have other tools. I know he is def not the first person to have this problem so there has to be solutions

First, see if someone has the key. If not, go to a good tire shop. I am sure they have seen it countless times.

^+1 thats what i did but me was my own fault and i needed it asap coz i had a flat so calling the company wouldnt work but i went to a tire shop n they had no trouble i did order a key for the future anyway

My key is in one of the compartments inside the car. I am sure most people put them somewhere in the car. So much for keeping rims safe - people who want them can either break in or just put the car on the flat and take the whole vehicle.

I had the same problem, didn't have the lock for the stock wheels, and was not about to pay for one. I used a slightly smaller socket and a hammer and had them all off in about 5 minutes, and just went to the parts store to buy regular lugs.

they are probably spline drive lugnuts... call a local discount tire and they will sell you a key for cheap... trust me, i work there

yeah if it's the splined lugs then usually any perforcance/aftermarket wheel shop will sell it
