Friend's opinion on my 8

My friend thinks the inside is to plasticky, interior is small. He drives a honda civic hatchback. Pissed me off today because when I got my MS Rear he hit the corner on the ceiling and there is a tiny scratch. He is ******* jealous he tells me that I should have gotten a honda and hooked it up and it would have been running 300hp knowing that I have spent so much already. I was going to asked him to help me install it but I think I'm better off doing this alone.

No offense but your friend is an idiot. Most people today realized that its better to buy a car with X amount of power and goodies on a car at x amount of dollars. Because what is the point of buying say a Honda civic for 18k and spending over 10k to get it to the point where most 30k dollar car would be. Its a waste really. Hell you can spend like 25k and get a WRX and it'll still be faster.

No matter how much you spend on a Honda Civic it will always be a boring piece of crap to drive. (I owned a Civic for a while)
The interior of the RX8 is cozy and sporty, not small. It is full of plastic bits but none where it counts.

I am not a serious car buff by any means and haven't sat in many cars, But I haven't been in a car that wasn't made with 'plastic'. Last time I checked, we had quite a few aluminum accent pieces to offset the 'sea' of plasticy interior. Does your friend have any aluminum accents in his Honda Civic hatchback?

and remind him that he is driving the same car as X amount of people, whereas youre probably one of the very few with taste

LOL...he's just trying to get you worked up. Like a previous poster said, just laugh at him, he's driving a civic after all!
No offense to civic drivers, but I just don't like people who run their mouths, whether they have a civic or a Porsche 911.

lol, I have a civic as a beater, nice little economic car. Kid at work put 2000 into wheels and tires on his civic hatch. Less than a year later has to replace the 1000 tires because his camber was off and he now has 1000 worth of cord showing crap. Waste of time and money and i'm sure your friend is similar. he is just jealous

Your freind just sounds jealous. I wouldn't listen to him, and I certainly wouldn't get him to help you mod your car. SABOTAGE!! maybe not, but I'm listening to that song right now, classic.

^ Yeah, that your friend with a civic already knows he's a loser who happens to have a friend who drives an RX-8. I'd be jealous like him if I was in his position. Sucks to be stuck with a car like his.

Your friend is jealous, plain and simple. Thats why he tried to mess up your kit, because he knew how phat it would look on the car, and just couldn't handle it. Next time you are in his little civic, point out every time the car rattles, and ask him "what is that, that cheap rattling noice". When he says he doesn't know, or tells you not to worry about it, tell him "my 30k sport car doesn't have a cheap plasticy rattle like that, maybe you should get it checked out". I think that will shut him up for awhile.

Know what you should do? You should gush and gush about how awesome his Civic and Civics in general are to the point of absurdity. That way he can't accuse you of being snobby (which is the 2nd reaction they often have).

It's kind of sad, I think this happens to everyone who monkeys around with their Honda. I know it did to me with my Prelude, and I didn't even change that much on it. I eventually got to the point where it was just a whole lot of work for absolutely minute gains and I felt silly for even caring so much. For the money I spent I could have easily had a better car to start with.

Haha... typical words to expect from a Non-Rx-8 owner, most even say our car isn't as good as the 350Z or other souped up cars, blaa blaa blaa with not enough power and etc. Let's just say I have my share of verbal abuse from my friends about my car but in the back of their mind, they know their car isn't giving them the value our car is giving us. I just tell them in their face, "you wanna go fast on the straight get a lambo", "u wanna feel g force, get a roller coaster ride". True enthuasist wouldn't talk bad things about any car, they should be thinking how they can enjoy the car as it is.

thats because you were looking in the "performance" section of pep boys.

hondas give probably 10x the power for the dollar in terms of aftermarket parts.

and in regards to the original post, your friend is just bitter, do you have a base or sport package? because they do feel plasticky but whatever its a 25k car not a ferrari and either way its miles ahead of the interior of a civic hatchback. and how the hell can he complain about space when he drives a civic hatch? thsoe are compact cramped 2 door cars with a rear set shoved in there. he's obviously just jealous dont let it get to you because your car looks 100x better, has a 100x better interior, and is probably a lot faster...unless he has a built and boosted b or k series swap but thats another story...

Yes, but that really depends on the model and the year of Civic. Mine was a 98 LX and I can tell you that I do not miss it one bit. My brother, who owned a CRX, drove my car and said, "that thing does not deserve a Honda badge".

Back to the RX. This is the best driver's car I have ever driven. I don't really care what people say about it because it puts a big smile on my face when I drive it and that's what matters to me.

I agree..

There are lots of cars that are not as nice as an RX-8. and there are only a few below the civic - those include Kia's and Hyundia's.

If I may offer different advice:

I think you should agree with him. And then never, EVER, let him drive or even ride in your 8. Invite him instead to go drive his oh-so-wonderful civic, while you suffer in your awful 8.

Damn, your friend has some ***** to stay crap like that. If I were a girl, I would smack him in the face, and then spank him on the road.

He also commented on the seats saying that it will get messed up right away because of the fabric.
