He even told me to change everything to carbon fiber. I said what's the point if its already light to begin with. I opened up the hood he didnt mention about how light the hood was. But he asked why is it all covered up I cant even see the engine. So I took off the cover and he asked where the engine was.

Tell him it the engine is the alternator sitting on top of the engine.. convince him it's really that small and the engine is actually the transmission.

Wow... What a moron.

I wouldn't even have listened to him. His opinion on cheap "plasticky" feel is invalid, the guy drives a civic hatch... Like 100,000,000,000,000,000 other people out there.

And his comments on it's too manly for you is retarded too.

Any idiot that says "change everything to carbon fiber, dood. 2fast" is really idiotic.

Not only that but the guy didn't even know where the engin is. That should show how he has no reason to talk isht.

I hate people like this guy. So moronic and so opinionated. But it all boils down to jealousy. Or maybe he wants to jump your pants.

True enthuasist wouldn't talk bad things about any car, they should be thinking how they can enjoy the car as it is.
This is what I always say...a TURE ENTHUASIST, can see the good in all sports cars and does not have to tear other people/cars down to make them feel better or make what they own better.

You might need a new "friend", everyone I know loves my car and those who might not don't even bring it up.

It seems he is going out of his way to hurt your feelings or attack your 8, this does point to him being jealous...just let trash talk (from a civic owner mind you...LOL) slide right off.

Sorry for the civic owners...I don't mean to insult your cars, but jerks like this guy really get on my nerves.

If your friend has a car (no matter what it is)...the last thing they need to hear from someone they call a "friend"...is "what a crappy car you drive".

Even if I don't like a certain type of car, that's just my opinion and does not excuse me from being an *** about it. It's a dang car...mainly used to get from point A to point B, why do people have to hate....envy and arrogance...

I hope he is paying to fix your bumber!

I've owned a prelude - nice but no RX8

Your "buddy" is a ******...
I had a '98 Prelude , nice car, but not in the same class as the RX8. Handling, Feedback and overall feel of the Prelude was vague compared to the RX8. Civic's are below the Prelude in handling, feel and performance. So comparing a Civic to an RX8 is a joke.

Cheers,

Alex

You can't get Mugen headers or Thermal R&D exhausts at Pepboys. I spent $1500 on intake, headers and exhaust and maybe got 8 extra horsepower. NOT WORTH IT. So I got the RX-8 instead and am not modifying it.

Kick him in the *****, and tell him to f*ck off. I hate people who think this way. And "friends" don't talk like that.

Sorry, guys, I can't even talk about this without introducing a little Klingon, English just doesn't cut it.

The Klingon word for friend is jup (pronounced joop, like "Jew" with a p on the end). There is a noun suffix -qoq (sounds like the beverage Coke) which means "so-called"; it means the speaker his serious doubts about the validity, accuracy or appropriateness of the noun. The "friend" in this story is clearly a jupqoq.

So as the story has unfolded, it becomes clear that the jupqoq is deliberately going out of his way to find anything on the 8 that can possibly be criticised. That's just obnoxious. A true friend (jupna' (-;}} ) would do the opposite: even if he didn't like a friend's car, he'd find *something* good to say about it.

And I'm having trouble buying into the theories that the jupqoq is just trying to get into her pants. Yes, I understand the logic of 5th grade, but most guys develop beyond that. Boys behave that way because it usually isn't socially acceptible to "like" girls at that age (girls have cooties! ), and they wouldn't have a clue as to how to go about hooking up with a girl even if it were. By adult-hood, men have learned an awful lot more about how to go about it; even if they've learned a lot of things that are wrong or stupid or just don't work, they are at least not pulling the lady's hair to get her attention.

Let's face it: any guy with designs on her would be praising the car to the hilt, not vice-versa.

No, I've come around to the original theory, that the jupqoq is just jealous. The giveaway, to me, is the you-shouldn't-have-a-car-like-that-you're-a-girl comment. The implication is that, HE, as a guy, SHOULD have a car like that. I think it's all sour grapes.

But most of all, I think the guy is a toad. Leave him behind. You don't need a jupqoq.

WTF???

Why can't you just say he's an ***? That sounds much better to me than calling him a cocacola jew or whatever.

I've never had anyone put my car down but I get **** sometimes for having an AT RX8 from people with no business talking down on a much nicer car than theirs.

Funny, the first time it happened it was at a drive-thru Boston Market, and I looked back at the kid in the window and said "I may not have a MT but it's still a ******* sweet car" and drove off. I wanted to be a total bitch and say "Hmm drive thru boy, I'm sure your manual piece of crap is MUCH nicer".

Anyway tell your friend to suck it. He's just jealous.

Sillygirl you know what's up anyway. I'm not buying the "hurt my feeling" bit. No sane 8 girl driver is that wimpy. You are workin him well though.

I think you need to look at guys with a little more junk in the trunk if you know what I mean. Seems like there are a lot of 8 guys out there willing to help you install your parts. And if you are installing mods yourself, a honda owner would be lucky to have you anyway.

Sound like you need to take him to an autocross. They just don't get it. RWD! Some guys think it is about going from point A to B. We girls know it is how you drive......yo.

true all most all cars even up into price ranges of 60k+ dollars use plastic inside, although the quality and fit of the parts varys a lot.

Take the hummer h2 for example, the interior is made of plastic, but its cheap and doesnt fit right, the car feels very plastic'y

Then look at the rx8, they used just as much plastic, in the same places, but the fit is top notch and the material has nice textures and feel.....feel much more expensive even though its half the cost!

You only get away from plastic (plastic that you can see anyway) in really top of the line cars, like ferrari.

Every dude on this forum is gonna say your friend's and ***, etc. Every guy on the civic forum might agree with your friend.

My response is who cares what he says. If you like your car, thats all thats important. You can't make everyone like it.

Nothing wrong with the Civic, but the interior in the ones I've owned did not compare to the RX8. Now, the newer luxury models may be pretty nice inside; haven't seen one.

I was going to asked him to help me install it but I think I'm better off doing this alone.
Sounds to me like this supposed friend is no friend at all.

Like a Civic is some festival of horsepower? Give me a break. Only way you'll get a Civic to be even remotely close to an RX-8 is through a $10,000 expenditure. Then you'll have spent $30,000 on a car that's worth less than $20,000. Or, you can get an RX-8, spend $30,000 (for a loaded one), and have a car that's worth that much.

MORON!

i've seen the new '06 civic's interior, it's nice but still not nearly as nice as RX-8's in comparable trims (ie base vs base, GT vs Si, etc.)

Well, the Si's projected price is less than $20k vs what 27k for the GT

Because "***" would be petaQ. jupqoq has the specific meaning I was going for.

Next question.

tell your civic driving friend to take a look at the url above to get a taste of what civic owners talk about in their chat rooms. Here is a sneak peak:
"My moms 94 civic ex abs sedan automatic has a couple problems I just recently noticed.

First, it seems to stay in second gear longer than any other gear. This is especially noticeable when in residential areas where the speed is always under 25. Example: it won't shift into third; it'll stay in second at around 1300rpm @ 23-24mph...." :D
