Front Rotor Accent.. WTF?
So last week I ordered the front and rear rotor accents from finishline.. box arrives today.. rear only, invoice sez "Rear accent backordered."
So's I call 'em, no idea when they're coming in.
Then I call gunther. Same.
Then I call accardi. Same.
o.O NO ONE has the front rotor?
There goes my plans for having 'em on for the car's first b-day.
I *could* try ebay, I guess... *mumble*

Just found one on ebay and snagged it.
The Miata (NA) came with 2 big chrome rings around the tach and speedo. There are 3 more gauges, gas, oil and temp. They didn't have the chrome rings. But alas, they had a lip machined into them to install a chrome ring!
Mazda never made the part, but KG Works did.. the really curious part is, the gauges had the lip allready machined to accept the rings!
IMO, the 8 should've had the strakes and accents from the factory. But let's see... strakes are retail 250, accents about 130.. let's assume they cost 1/3rd of that to make, so 127 dollars per car for all that bling, times 100,000 Rx-8s made... yeah, they saved a few nickles there.
They make more profit by selling it as addons. That's why they do it.

My dealer actually replaced my front accent when they installed my front air dam last year. Instead of re-using the old accent they just ordered a new one. I just assumed they tore it up when they removed the front during install. Are they hard to get off without damaging?

I would get the stainless steel ones from Howard off of Ebay. I just bought a used stock one and it takes a beating. It took some time on the polisher to get al the little nicks and road abuse off of it.
I think the stainless stell one would hold up much better.
