+1 good call on a dirty MAF. The RX8 does have one and it is common to have the MAF get gunked up if oil gets in to the intake from the oil filler tube overflow. That can happen when the oil is changed and someone overfills it.
You can check this yourself. If you need to clean it you need to by specific MAF cleaner from an auto parts store.

Hmm... what is MAF? and do you think b/c of overfilling the engine oil resulted in the problems that I'm having right now? B/c when they replaced my engine.. when I got back home... When I checked my oil level after 2-3 days by looking at my dipstick I could tell it was overfilled.
Will it effect the engine ----- Hell yes. especially when its too much and it went back into your intake.
MAF is the black thing that attaches to your plastic intake tube.
You should open your intake box and see if you find any oil at the bottom, if you do ---- no good, Clean it up ASAP, take your Whole intake apart and clean it, take the MAF out and spray it with MAF cleaner, and check the throttle body to see if you see any oil on it, if it does ------- bitch at the dealership say they **** your throttle body up.

Also check your air box and intake tube to make sure there is no oil in it. Otherwise it will just get dirty again.
this is consistent with the problems you've had.

this whole thing is stupid. does the dealer have vacuum or compression tests for either of the motors?
if they did not test / replace the cat, coils, plugs, FUEL PUMP, they should have. if they replaced them and the problem was not fixed. well get you damn money back..
have you taken the time to call mazda na?
and what the hell is a rpm beaker?

They have done the vacuum test and compression tests for the previous motor and they said it was out and needed to be replaced...
The new engine I have right now they did a vacuum test on it not sure about the compression test. But they have not told me any details about the test.
All they did was came to a conclusion that they needed to replace the catalytic converter. When the catalytic convert did not solve the problem... they requested I had to change my coils, wires and plugs.
what I meant by "rpm beaker" was the pointer (needle) that points to the rpm.

I found out something odd last night when I was driving. When I came to a long range steep area I put the gear into neutral what I've noticed was that my rpm pointer was moving back and forth between 500-1000k rpms continually (without me pressing on the gas) and all of a sudden my engine just went off it turned off by itself! wtf...? BTW, It took me about 10-20 secs until I came down the hill (until then i didn't touch the gas the whole time) when I tried to press on the gas when I came down the end of the steep hill my engine automatically shut off and the check engine light, battery light and the 2 or 3 lights above that we're all flashing profusely when I tried to press on the gas. I had to pull of on the side of the road... b/c my car wouldn't start... I rested on the side of the road for 3-5 mins and started it again... it turned on but my check engine light was still on. I dont think anything is wrong with my battery though b/c I replaced my battery 4-5 months ago. I was about 30 miles away from home I tried to drive home slowly/safely. Any comments on what's going on with my car?

you should really look at the MAF but again, if you are not positive at what you are looking at read through the threads and then go to the dealership so you will know something about you engine compartment and have those bitches fix the problem!
