Fuel Pump Service Life
Would swapping out a fuel pump with 100k miles on it be wise preventative maintenance for an RX8? I haven't heard of too many fuel pump failures, but I faintly remember reading somewhere that Mazda recommends changing it out around 100k miles. I could also be completely wrong. I'm not sure if the fuel pump has the capacity to cause the engine to run lean and destroy things, so I'm considering all possibilities.

I can speak from personal experience, if you have any signs of a pump going bad and I mean ANY get a new pump. You don’t want to overthink or do what I did… and just put it off. When she goes she goes and then you gotta change the pump in a parking lot lol. My car had 118k on it not sure if it was original but needless to say, the more you keep a calendared schedule with changing what’s necessary the more you don’t have to worry about things going wrong. I was in a jam with getting the car fixed right away so I just bit the bullet and got a New Delphi pump from autozone. The only downside to the pump was I had a wire that needed to be soldered and it does put off a bit of a noise. Honestly though if you have an hks high power you won’t hear a thing lol
