Fuel Tank Total

Fuel Tank Total
Hey, I ran out of gas the other day and I was surprised to see that I only had to fill it up with 14.6 gallons. I thought that the RX8's fuel capacity was 15.9.
Is there some hidden switch that I am un aware of.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Thankx!
BTW. You know that your going to run out of gas when you can see the upper left hand portion of the E on the other side of the needle. When you see that, you have less than 10 miles of gas left.

The fuel tank capacity (according to several sites) is 61 liters, which converts to 16.119 gallons.
I don't know if fuel tanks are different from one country to another. I suppose I could find out...
I had always thought it was 13.9 gallons or thereabouts, but this may refer to fuel consumption until the light comes on.
On a separate note, did you know that Yak milk is NOT pink. It is a rich creamy color with a high fat content of 5-7 percent. Being so high in fat, it is usually processed into butter, cheese, or yogurt. An average cow will produce 110 kg. Milk in a lactation period of an average of 149 days.
sorry....I had to edit that....my Oracle had misled me.

On Several occasions I have had the needle passed E (but did not run out) and when I filled up she only took 14.3 gal.
I am assuming there is 1.5 gal or so that is not picked up by the fuel system becuase that is where all the gunk stuff is stored.

Volume.....
Don't forget the structure of the tank; it has a compartment on each side of the driveshaft hump, and uses a 'venturi' type suction and circulation system.
This means that as long as there is liquid going thru the venturi, it can 'suck' from the other side, but (I'm guessing) as soon as the drivers side tank has no liquid, there is no more suction from the passenger side, and it's over.
Perhaps a good slosh around a corner emptied the pump side before the other, and it stalled out.
Tank capacity is 60 litres, and I find the light comes on at exactly 10 litres left (2.6 US gallons, leaving at least 40 miles of reserve.....)

I remember putting in 14.7 before and 14.6is the usual number I fill so Im positive 14.6 is notthe limit. When I filled the tank at 14.7 I was surethe car was going to die out any minute. I think from a completely emptytank you can fill at least 15

It may have been possible to squeeze another tenth in there, but I wasn't patient enough, or inclined, to try.
