Future RX-8 Owner with some Questions

Been browsing through the forums and reading posts for a few weeks, but just recently registered a name and am now posting.

I'm currently shopping for a new car and am having trouble finding something to top the RX-8 in my price range >30k. My big concern right now is whether or not the 2010 will come fitted with the new 16x Renesis. Also been looking for some reading material on this motor but am not finding much so if anyone has any links please post.

So the big question is whether or not I should just go with the 2009 model, or just keep putting cash away until 2010?

Never hurts to keep stashing cash until you find what you like. If you already have a car, you might as well wait on official news of the 16X debut. If that's what you really want of course.

Everything on the production of the 16X is speculation right now. Especially considering the current economic conditions. Decisions like revising the rotary engine will be held under a lot of scrutiny by Mazda's top brass.

Wrote "mazda 16x motor" in google and found these 2 in about 37 seconds....

However welcome to the addiction! I have heard 2010 and 2011 that the 16x "may" be used however maybe contacting Mazda about it (local dealer) and see if they will give u any info!

There is precisely ZERO chance in hell of the 16X making an appearance in 2010. Maybe 2013 at the earliest.

We have no legitimate proof that Mazda is working on another RX car.

NO development mules have been spotted.
NO legitimate, "could-be-kinda-close-to-production" concept car has been shown.
NO leaks or indication from within Mazda whatsoever that another RX program has received the green light.

Just the usual, vague "the rotary will always be a part of the company" PR-speak.

The 2009 model just received some of the 16X tech though, like the 3rd oil injector in each housing. The 2010 will be the same as the 2009 (although hopefully with some more interesting colors!).

I myself am holding off for a 2010, mostly because I'm being laid off at the end of the month.

it'll be a while 'till we see the 16x. given the state of the world at large right now, i wouldn't be terribly surprised if it gets even further delayed. remember, the renesis, actually 13b-msp, first appeared in 1995, and didn't get put into production until 2003/4. sure the circumstances were different, but i think the rx-8 will have to serve a few more years before a replacement appears anyway. your best bet would be to save your money for a few more years or just buy whatever you want if you need a car now and have the means

What if there's a nuclear war or an asteroid strike, and you never make it to 2010? And never got to own that RX-8?

Go for the 2009!!

I just ordered a spankin' new R3 in black. Should be here in April. I test drove it yesterday and fell in love, even in the snow.
