FYI - RX8 has a 'Safe Mode' I did not know about and it darn near killed me!!
As I turned into traffic a couple of Sundays ago from a parking lot my RX8 lost all power! I was missed by a couple of cars as I snailed my way to the kerb at 5mph!
I eventually limped home ( I was half a mile away) and on Mondaytowed my car to the dealer. They diagnosed a failed oil metering part of the oil pump as the cause of the problem and told me that the ECU has an emergency setting to save the engine if that happens.
That was news to me and I couldn't find anything in the manual - tho' I admit to not reading every single page.
Saving the engine is a good idea - but it could have gotten me and the wife killed!
(Kudos to my Bill service writer at Star Mazda in West Covina California - he looked at my service history, said the device should not have failed and called Mazda to pursuade them to give me a free fix - which saved me about 1100 bucks!)

Yes, it is a warrenty covered item - but I am hitting 75 thousand miles this week, so i am well out of the warrannty range!

Please post this on the good/bad dealer list - it helps people find the good guys and they are the ones you want to buy your car from!

I've not got any complaints about them - they have always treated me well from the get-go. I got the car at MSRP, rather than for more like some dealers wanted me to pay. I did pre-order the car so that might be why.
Their service-writers are knowlegeable.
I did notice that during my warranty period they recommended oil changes every 7k miles and now it is down to every 3k!!
They have Saturday service but it is mainly oil change and tire service.
