g/f said it would be better to park on the street to save $8 in parking...BIG mistake
So, here's the story:
I had picked my g/f up from her house last Sat night (a week ago) to head up to Hartford to a comedy club. I told her I was going to pay for the comedy club, the meal, and everything else, but I didn't have any cash on me so I asked for her to pay for the parking ($8). She told me "no problem!"
So we're about to pull into the secure parking lot, and she changes her mind, stating it is a waste of money and she'd rather park on the street. I argued with her for about a minute, then gave up and drove around to find a spot to park on the street. Finally found one.
Went into the comedy club, came out at midnight and surprise surprise, my passenger window was smashed and my IPOD/sirius satellite radio were stolen. I had hidden my GPS under my seat, so luckily they didn't get it.
Needless to say, I was PISSED. It annoyed me so much more that this was preventable. I mean, I spent $80 on the night and she couldn't shell out 1/10th of that for secure parking??? I made her sit in back the whole way home (although, to be fair, there was glass all over the passenger seat).
I have good comprehensive coverage with only a $100 deductible. The messed up part is that when the ******* broke my window, it shattered all over the car and cut up both my passenger and driver seat (red/black combo leather). My insurance company is buying new seat covers, which are insanely expensive. $800 for the bottom cushion for both the driver and passenger seats, and $900 for the back portion of the passenger seat. $2700 in seats alone!!!
They also broke my center console lid getting into it for my IPOD, which was replaced also.
$3100 later, my car should be as good as new. I told my g/f that next time, I don't give a crap what she says, I'm parking in a secure lot. She said she'll pay my deductible, and I'm considering it.
Here are some pics of the damages:

Sorry to hear that. Maybe she'll learn that she doesn't have the right to put a value on another person's property. Her choice of not wanting to spend $8.00 should cost her your deductible, and she should be grateful it's not higher.
My son borrowed my 05 GT Mustang to help out a friend. In the process he managed to hit a traffic barrel and slightly cracked the bumper. He paid $250 half the deductible to teach him a bit of responsibility...It worked wonderfully.

Do not ever leave anything visible in a car parked anywhere in public.
A meth head will break your window for a penny on the floor or your car. It's not his window, and it could be his penny.

Oh man! Same with my car, even my car has same color.
I paid $500 for window and installation. With broken center console, I super glued all the broken pieces. It works fine now.
BTW sorry to hear that.

Wow, that sucks man. I would be PISSED. Hope everything gets fixed up quickly and properly.
Also, Telexen is right, it's a trap! Having her pay the deductible will likely result in a fight. Tread carefully.

Damn that suck !
but how did they know that you have all those stuff in the car? people usually smash the window ONLY if they see anything valuable in the car. you probably left the wires or the iPod out or something didnt u ?
and ALWAYS, ALWAYS park the car on BIG main street, not some side small roads.
I never park in parking lot, cuz it cost 21 bux to park anywhere in the city's parking lot, so what I do is, I take everything away b4 I leave the car. and usually I left the drinks and astray open, so when ******* pass by and "peek" in my car, they will be like "ahh, empty"
Yes I do have In-Dash NAV but people in NYC are after Portable NAV than In-Dash Nav. cuz its a nightmare to take in-dash nav out (at least couple of minutes, and it will make big noise cuz u trying to drag it out), plus its usually password locked, and they might break the unit in the "take out process" (waste of time), so they just go after the portable ones.
so that means in NYC, if u leave any GPS cuddle visible in the car, say bye bye to your window (like my brother's car)
Geico gave u the check already? You know u can get a pair of used seats from Mazmart. for like 500 bux I think ? not sure if its still there tho. u can contact Mazmart for info (and keep the rest of the Geico money in ur pocket to ease your pain )

wouldn't shell out the $8 for parking.. make her shell out the $100 deductible.. see which idea she likes better next time... secure parking lot, or side street.
