g/f said it would be better to park on the street to save $8 in parking...BIG mistake

So..you guys are ok with the fact that she refused to spend $8 on him when he was spending $80 on her??
It's not about blaming who for the accident........ It's about the fact that she didn't think he's worth spending $8.
The relationships should be about giving and taking.........That's the concept of a good relationship.....you can't just take and take ... or having to just give and give...and not getting anything back in return.... unless your gf is a charity. LOL
Haven't you guys ever heard of Equivalent Exhange?
I'm not saying she should spend $80 back .....but after him offering to pay for the show and everything.....she should atleast offer him to pay for the parking out of......courtesy...manner.....kindness...love....w hatever you want to call it.
So maybe ..you guys are the ones should re-evaluate your lives...or rather...the relationships you're in.
You know what they call a girl who takes and takes, and gives nothing but sex in return??

But my whole point is that she is, at times, very cheap. She just didn't see the difference between parking in a secure lot and parking on a street. It just didn't cross her mind that my car could potentially be broken into/stolen while on the street. She didn't do it purposefully....
She's actually a great person, very caring and that's why I've been with her for such a long time. She felt terrible about my car broken into, and does admit that if parking was paid for, this wouldn't have happened. She even offered to pay my deductible. I'm ok with her now, I just don't want to talk to her about this anymore and I won't let her pay my deductible.
I was just venting my frustration on this site. I would never break up with her as a result of this, as long as she is willing to learn from the incident and realize that parking in a lot is far more secure than the street.

^ Husky...I was just speaking in general terms....... I wasn't attacking your gf personally. I have no reason to since I don't know what kind of girl she is...
I was just expressing my view on this one paticular accident....
So don't take it personally .. Like I said I was jus speaking in general.....no personal attack whatsoever.... Sorry if it sounds like it.
You know your gf way better than any of us on here. So you do what you think it's the best.

Dude, it wasn't the entire seat. It was just the bottom cushions of both the driver and passenger, and the upper trim for the passenger.
If the seats needed to be replaced, it would be $1800 per seat. That is insane.
OEM parts have some of the highest markups out there. I put it up there with movie popcorn. $2700 just for seat covers is one of the biggest ripoffs ever. Especially because it probably cost Mazda <$100 to create them.

Funny thing, I park in Hartford every day. There are a few free street parking spaces on the way to the parking structure available once in a while. But I only parked there maybe once or twice and every time I felt nervous thinking that somebody might break into my car.
Then I saw broken glass there twice in the course of 4 months and I don't even think of parking there any more.
You are not really saving $8. You are saving $8-E(L)-E(A) where E(L) is the expected value of ALL damages (including your insurance deductible, time to file the insurance claim, aggravation, etc.) if your car is broken into. E(A) is the expected value of aggravation THINKING that your car can broken into even if it is not.
So, if you deductible is $500 then you only need a probability of a break in to be equal to 8/500=1.6% when you are actually not saving anything. I ran a similar calculation in my head and concluded that street parking was not worth it in Hartford.

She's not a bitch, she just doesn't think sometimes. Like I said, she is remorseful about what happened. She's a very caring, generous person who at times can be a bit cheap. But she's certainly not a bitch.

Look, you're from Connecticut, you should know that nothing is secure in Hartford. How many shootings and murders have there been already? I worked on Pearl st. in the '80s. Our parking was paid for in a "secure" lot. Well it turns out the guy that worked there was also the lookout for his friends who would come in and rip the cars off. There is nothing in Hartford that I can't find someplace else.
Give her a break. There are "as-wholes" everywhere.
