when you say "grinding/scraping noise" you mean liek when you grind the gears liek a mis-shift kinda noise? but only in low revs?

^that isn't good......if it grinds while shifting into gear and you have the clutch all the way in.....hmm synchro's pop in my head.....but i have been taking apart tansmissions at work so i have tranny's on the brain. lol...as for grinding while driving..once it's in gear (weather your synchro's are borked or not) it shouldn't grind....sonds like you have some issues.

have you drained the fluid and seen if any metal shavings have come out?

No you have misunderstood me, probably too difficult to explain in text, Im just a perfectionist and can hear the slightest of noises, I think it's just a trait of the RX8 reading other forums posts, Thanks anyway, Dan

Lots of gear layover noise at idle, and you'll hear just about every synchro uptake and harmonic in the gearbox as you go through the RPM band. You're practically sitting right beside the gearbox, so it will sound different if you're acoustically picky. Particularly so if all you've driven before is FWD.

yeh Iam very good at hearing the slightest thing, it is similar to the idle noise you get before putting the clutch in, it's only slight, good to knoe the gearbox sounds can be heard, I had a Lotus Elise before the RX8 so I should be used to noises!! The Rx8 is like a Bentley compared to the Lotus!!
