NC Getting Alignment While Seated In Car?

I'm trying to get my 8 set up for some autocrossing this summer and can't find a place that will allow me to sit in the car while they are aligning it. I live in the Greensboro/Triad area in NC. Anyone around here know of a shop that will accommodate?

What's the advantage of sitting in the car during an alignment? :
I usually want to be in the pit or under the car during my alignments...

Take it to a performance alignment shop

sitting 150-200 lbs in a car will alter the alignment. those who track or autocross would want their camber and whatnot balanced when it counts (when they are in the car)

+1 to what Ngo said.
Performance alignment shops will cost you a bit more then your typical franchise type store (ie; Firestone, Sears Auto Center, etc) but most will allow (and encourage you) to sit in the car.

It'll cost you a bit more but highly recommend it if you're going to the track

If a performance shop isn't an option, get 3 or 4 bags of "Fun Sand" to put in the drivers area. That will eliminate the liability problem that most shops would have with you seated in the car.

thats wack! you would think thats what they should do in the first place, its your car and should be adjusted around the driver. only makes seance.

Yep, if u're going to track your car. its best to go to a performance shop so they let ya sit in the car while u see those red laser beam shooting towards your car.

Of course it makes sense, but just more, understandable, litigation-risk averse measures on the mainstream shops' side. The lawyers in this country would have us all in plastic bubbles 24/7 if they could, and we're getting ever closer.

I'll assume your about 200lb.

here's a one time price fix for your track issues.

Places won't let you sit in the car. So why not buy weights and store them underneath the seat?

Get a couple plates equal to your weight.

^Now thats redneck engineering right there!

love the idea but I would REALLY like to see how you're going to fit 200 lbs of weights under the seat of an RX-8.

Well I regress and say. Put the weights in the general area. I know the RX-8 seat only has enough room to keep my spare change underneath.

Steel plate under the car.... lol these ideas are too stupid but might just work!
