I am in pakistan. So no mazda dealership here thus have do all car maintenance by myself. I use 2005 rx for my daily office commute, never used it for racing and never will.

I have developed the following maintenance routine for my car. Please recommended any addition, deletion or modificaiton .Any recommendation shall be much appreciated.

1. Oil change --> 2k miles
2. Coolant Change --> 10k miles
3. Gear Oil Change --> 10k miles
4. Spark Plug Change --> 10k miles
5. Ignition Coil Change --> 10k miles
6. Front Brake Pad change --> 15k miles
7. Air filter change --> 10k miles

What else???

Thanks

Compared to the one I attached in THIS thread yours is a bit overboard. I would do this with your list.

1. Oil change --> 3,000k miles
2. Coolant Change --> 30,000 miles or once a year
3. Gear Oil Change --> 30,000 miles or once a year
4. Spark Plug Change --> 30,000 miles
5. Ignition Coil Change --> 50,000 miles (but keep spares on hand just in case)
6. Front Brake Pad change --> inspect every 15k miles , change as needed.
7. Air filter change --> 10k miles thats ok.

Think I'd probably drop the Spark plugs down to 20k Expo1, but that's just me.
I'll probably go ahead and do the coils at 40k as well, but 50k is okay.

Hit the redline daily. Considering you don't drive that hard you probably can at least increase your change durations by 50%.

As i live in pakistan where the conditions are fairly harsh so i made my standards more stringent but still i have reviewed them as per recommendations from knowledeable friends out there.

Can anyone chip in with additions to this list because i think this thread may help newbies in maintainence of their engine and anticipating upcoming problems (such as me where i blew my coils and then had to wait for 10 days to get them imported from us thanks trademotion.com)

Some suggested addition can be about oil filter, rear brakes, brake oil, or any other thing that might be missing from the below list.

1. Oil change --> 2,500k miles
2. Coolant Change --> 20,000 miles or once a year
3. Gear Oil Change --> 20,000 miles or once a year
4. Spark Plug Change --> 15,000 miles
5. Ignition Coil Change --> 25,000 miles (but keep spares on hand just in case)
6. Front Brake Pad change --> inspect every 15k miles , change as needed.
7. Air filter change --> 10m
8. Tyres --> 20k miles
9. Tyres Rotate --> 10k miles
9. Battery -->20k Miles
10. Ignition Wires -->30k miles

You must have alot of money to burn. For me personally.

1. Oil change - 3000 with dino/5000 with synthetic
2. Coolant Change - every two years, preferably before summer
3. Gear Oil Change - once a year
4. Spark Plug Change - 30,000 miles
5. Ignition Coil Change - when I dyno and the power curve breaks up in the higher rpm's
6. Front Brake Pad change - replace as needed
7. Air filter change - 20-30 miles, they trap more dirt, new filters let in more dirt then filter with a bit of mileage
8. Tires - are you kidding me? change them when the tread is low not at a certain mileage
9. Tires Rotate - every season, winter & summer
9. Battery - test before winter, replace if needed
10. Ignition Wires - get a good set and leave them for the life of the engine

Forgot transmission fluid. I would probably change that once a year.

Anyone have a thermostat fail on them?

missed brake fluid as well, i would flush that at least once every two years

its gl4 fluid for the transmission and gl5 fluid for the diff

if you can't find gl4 manual transmission fluid, gl5 will work fine as well, personally I use 75w90 but some experiment with other weights

1. When to change oil filter?
2. Brake Oil change doesn't make much sense to me because it is not doing anything except transmitting pressure????.
3. i have no experience with differntial oil but i have read that in some cars gear and differential oil goes in the same place. I have changed the gear oil of the car. is differential oil situated at some other place. Should this be replaced as well? What should be the frequency?
4. When should one replace rear brakes?

1. Every oil change
2. Every year...fluid absorbs water and becomes less effective with time
3.Different places...every 40K if you don't track car
4. When they need it Likely every 2 front pad changes...or about 60Kish

change brake pads once you hear the screech. once you wear them down enough there will be a distinct screeching sound when you apply brakes.
