Good offset for the 8

Good offset for the 8
hi guys just like to hear out your personal opinions on this...
u know i guess its safe to say majority of car lovers think the best rim offset would be to set it to align with the width of the car body... while having the rims sticking in deep into the body is ugly.
however... i kinda think for rx8 its a lil bit diffrent. the 8 actually looks better with the fender arcs covering the wheels slightly. stock offset which is 50 looks good but maybe a lil too deep from some angles, in my opinion the optimum is to have offset at 40 or 42.
i have tried offset of 33, and i have seen 8s with 30...man the whole car just looks like a f**ing monster truck, coz the wheels just look gigantic and really protruding..
so my conclusion is: while body width alignment may be good looking for other cars, its not so for 8s.
now id like to hear your opinions...

mine is +48 with 5zigen fno1r-c. I think it looks perfect, but perhaps 4 or 5 more millimeters out would look a bit better. I agree though, sticking out is a no no for this car, and stock is slightly too inset.

I personally do not like the looks of anything much lower than 40. The wheels look like theyre going to simply come off at any second... kind of like the cars with little bitty wheels that are really wide, just not my style.

Optimal offset is determined by how it affect's the car's handling—not by "how it makes the car look".
Mazda did a fabulous job in engineering the handling and "feel" of the 8, arguably it's best feature. Their recommended offset is part of that equation. Unless you have special driving needs—like racing or autocross—the stock offset is best for most drivers.
