Personally, I also prefer smaller, lighter cars and I'm lucky that my wife has a Forester so that I can have an RX8. She hated the idea of getting an SUV, but she needed something higher-up (knee problems) so she got one of the smallest, lightest ones available (Forester = slightly larger Impreza).
That said, we rented a Dodge Durango while on vacation with my brother (we needed something bigger) and it was nice having the extra room. I can understand why families go for larger vehicles. And everyone picks on minivans, but they're very utilitarian (and more practical and less flashy than SUVs). If we had more than two kids, we'd have one (probably a Mazda5, which was surprisingly fun to flog at zoomzoomlive).
As far as the G35 goes, have you ever driven one? It's a bit heavy, but is still a sweet ride. The 350Z is also a really fun vehicle.
Every car is a compromise. Good luck flipstream and kudos to you for taking all the abuse in this thread gracefully!

1) All 8's are designed to be retro fitted to duel gasoline/hydrogen fuel.
2) SUV's fall into the truck category and as such they are allowed to produce huge numbers of pollutants compared to a passenger car.

2) That may be true in general in regards to SUV's and such, but the Ridgeline--actually all HONDA's--is classified as a Low Emission Vehicle.

flipstream --
Hate to see one of the 'charter' members part with their RX-8. I believe you are the 1st one from the original group to do so, if memory serves me correctly.
I like both choices you have.

thanks man... i wasn't exactly the 1st one... but part of the 1st batch.. at least in the Midwest. the 8 has given me great memories to cherish... until i get another one -- in the future perhaps.. (like i've been telling these people trying to "sell" me on the 8 ) Just the other day i came across my paperwork for my 8... the brochures, window invoice, buyback letter, etc... ah, the memories. I also got the RX8 remote control car, Transformers (the original white one and red one), die cast collectibles, etc. all going into a keepsake bok.

Just wanted to bring up something...
