Question Fri Guy... why should we believe anything you've said? You have no proof, you changed your story, the only reason you have for posting if it is true is making yourself feel better about the fact you didnt chose the 8... I do realize that you have said you enjoyed the 8, but what's the point of this thread? Now, I dont know if your mustang is faster than my car or not, and if anyone else in this thread is like me, then some of us dont care. Plenty of mustangs have passed me, but not once have I wished I picked a mustang instead. So keep your mustang if you're happy with it, and I'll keep my 8 becasue I'm happy with it.

 

 

I just like to see all of you get rattled up. I don't care if ya'll believe me or not. I don't need to make my self feel better for not choosing the 8. I'm still happier that my G/F chose the G35 rather than the 8. My point was that the 8 is preety cool to drive when it is moded.

The RX8 continues IMO to be one of the most mis-understood vehicles in it's class if not under the $100,000 range. It seems like you either get it, or you don't get it. As I explained many times over, when I first began shopping for a new sports car I looked heavily at Evo's, a 350z, as well as mustangs, and even took notice of an awesome 300zx!

Now, I'll admit fully that I really didn't know what I stumbled onto when I got the RX8. I was new to the rotary and what not but I discovered the smooth nature of the car as well as the overall package.

The car has great style, a unique power plant, handles great, and was fast enough to have fun in but wasn't so fast that you're half throttle and at 100mph on your way to jail. It's car you have fun with every day and enjoy driving everyday.

I don't need to go 100 mph to have fun in my car, I just need to take a few tight corners in the city. Sure, there's not a lot of twisty roads but I've sought them out. I'll drive 100 miles north for a mountain driving experience. That's just me.

Speed is a byproduct of various other factors. I'm amazed how people compare driving skills by roll racing which is a horsepower race or people who see drag racing as the ONLY test of driving skill and ability. Just cause I can't trap above 110 in the 1/4 mile suddenly my car sucks.

I have a couple drag racing friends who fell in love with my car when they drove it. While the RX8 doesn't have the most horsepower compared to Evo's, G35 or the 350z...it has the soul of a sports car. My best friend owns an 03 cobra that's a fully built street legal drag car with 450 whp. The car isn't good at all for long trips, make a crap load of noise, creeks, and squeeks. The interior is cheap except the nice seats. Still, it's fast as hell and that's what it's designed for.

The RX8 is a niche car with a unique owner base. Unless you own one I don't expect you to understand. The performance of an RX8 depends heavily on the driver, more so than having oogles of horsepower in a straight line car. So you beat one RX8 on the road, I'm sure I can find 2 or 3 just here in Phoenix that would give you a run for your money.

I'll gladly stack my car against anything in it's natural environment. If you can't carve turns then why the hell should I care you can beat me at the stop light?

Second, I think it's just pitiful you spray just to get even with common STOCK cars. STOCK mind you. STOCK WRX's, Stangs, 350Z's, and G35's. I hope to god you run into a STOCK "4000 pound cavalier" because your weak *** 102-103mph trap isn't going to cut it.

Yeesh, this gang gets riled up so easily. So what if the 8 isn't the fastest car on the road? You were obviously able to overlook that factor (if you own an 8) because there was something else that showed you that speed isn't everything. If you're going to get all wound up any time someone mentions that the 8 can't beat a car that is a KNOWN great drag racer, then you should probably buy a car that IS a great drag racer.

Oh, and my car is faster.

 

our cars arent much slower than a G35 or 350z... I'm rather sure with NO2 you're going to be going much faster.

0-130 RX-8: 35ish seconds

That's a pretty big difference in my book...
