Got hit (pic attached) Have questions.

On my way home from class...hot girl rear ended me. While its at the dealer getting repaired..I want warranty work done. Will this rear end damage get me the new recall since its so close to the fuel cell? Also, I have rusty rotors, wicked break squeek, a noisy sunroof (when open), and rattling drivers side outer door handle (when stereo is turned up), an intermittent engine light and the shift boot and cupholder get hot enough to cook on and burn you(no exaggeration...I left me cell phone in the closed cupholder on a hot day..got caught in huge traffic jam and it MELTED the screen on my new LG VX7000). Not to mention I am lucky if my flash is even as up to date as the M flash. What else, if anything, can I bring to the body shops attention as well as the warranty shops attention?

Also, is there anything specific about this type/level of damage I should be ulta-aware of? Anything I should bring to the dealers attention or look for once I get it back.

Also..funny.., the girl plowed me w/ an explorer.. what did Enterprise give me as a loaner? a new explorer. lol Her words.."Im so sorry I wrecked your pretty car". Oh yeah, that makes up for it.

Let them deal with the body first. Bring it back later for the recall and other stuff because guaranteed, the impact will cause more squeeks and rattles than you started with.

The hidden things to look for will be the drive shaft and motor mounts. Neither tolerate inline impacts.

And while they're working back there, have them debadge for you.

I was hit last week...i feel for ya man. Like others recommended let them do the body work first. If you can, stop by daily and take pictures of thier work or give the tech a disposable camera to take pics as he moves along. An accident like that will probably go on Carfax and it will help any plans in the future to sell or trade your car. Ironically, I recieved my recall notice the DAY AFTER the accident so my dealer will take care of it while it's out. You will probably have to wait until you receive the notice if you haven't already. Good luck with it man!

I'm wondering why you didn't bring your car in sooner?
Is it still under warranty
That cupholder heat-thing I would have sent it back the day after I found out.

OK you're gonna miss your car for a couple of days, but rather that, than driving around with that for a whole year

PS hope everything works out

damn dude, that sucks. my BB 8 got rear ended as well, but your damage makes mine look like nothin. i just need a new bumper. the body shop at my dealer wants ~ $790 and to hold my car over for 3 days. i'm gonna try and see if they can take care of both recalls at the same time as well as a few other minor details...hope your car is back on its feet again soon...

Nah, didnt get her #. I was too mad and she was crying. The dealer said they wont touch the any warranty work until they finish repairing it. My insurance is going after her for the 500 deductible, so thats a help. What about this lower control arm recall I heard about? Did that ever manifest itself?

And I would LOVE to have them de-badge...but its a dealer and I doubt they will do that.

Huh? She rear-ended you. Her insurance pays all.

The recall is active. So far a lot of people have been inspected but no one has reported that they have had their a arms replaced.

Most dealers sub out the bodywork. Even if they don't, being a dealer is meaningless. They do what they get paid for. You already need the rear straightened, body filler and painted. Those badges are coming off just to do the work.

If the insurance company says the CF Drive shaft isn't damaged, ask for the ultra sonic scans to prove it.

How'd you manage to get all her insurance info without her #?

Its no fault here...she doesnt pay anything unless her vehicle needs repair. I will call the body shop/adjuster about the driveshaft and see what they say. As far as de-badging, Im pretty sure the Insurance Co. will not pay to fill in the hole before the re-paint but I just may ask the dealer to do it anyway.

Glad you are OK, the car can be fixed - people are not as easy.

Shame on not getting the girl's number, but it just might be trouble. You fall in love, let her drive your 8, she smashes it up

After you get your car fixed, get one of these.

More importantly...are you going to get a chance to rear end the hot girl?

Sinister,

Make sure you get them to make a claim for the split exhaust back there. If it is bent, they could probably bend it back, but you don't want that. You want an after market exhaust. It might actually be a little bit more, but only by about 40 bucks or so. That's how I got my Racing Beat exhaust, btw.

Will I be able to see if it was bent and they just bent it back, if I climb under there after I get it back?

My fiancee's Murano got its exhaust tips bent after a car rear-ended it. We made sure the adjustor took note of it during inspection to have it replaced and there was no problem.

Ouch, conflict with hot girl and car. Sucks
Make sure they fix up the bumper and trunk nice and replace the exhaust.
