Grats on the car! You'll learn to love (or hate) the rotary engine, it's just so smooth at high RPMs and won't feel/hear the straining sound you would from the RSX. So did you go from a RSX to an Eclipse and then Rx8?

Another rule .... Don't ignore Ikewrx even though you might wonder why a (IKE)WRX owner has so many posts on this site? He usually has something interesting to say.

There is some info about back doors for the Nav in the tech garage.

Break her in then you can really enjoy the drive

Here is what happened.

I was 21 and bought the RSX Type-S, great car, loved the hell out of it (and no my parents did not buy it for me, I did.). I got married shortly after and then short after being married my wife got pregnant. We had the baby and I had a great job offer in Maryland/DC (I currently lived in Mississippi) that I could not turn down. I decided to trade in the RSX-S for a 3.2 TL before moving up here.

My wife just says at home with the baby, but wanted to start going to school as well. It was at this point that i decided to purchase something half-cheap so that we could have two cars. I purchased the Eclipse (and let the dealer royaly screw me -- its a long story but a 3+ hour drive to the dealership had me too pissed to not buy the car after I got there) I also got the extended warranty so that raised the price as well.

I also started my own business who recently has been doing very well and I got a new job that pays even more then my original job, so after saving for a bit I decided that I was tired of driving the eclipse and wanted a "fun" car for myself again. I test drove an Infiniti G35, 350Z, WRX STI, RX-8, S2000, and Mercedes SLK320 and decided that the RX8 was certainly the car for me.

I spent a few weeks "lurking" on these forums before I made up my mind as I always research anything I am getting myself into (with the exception of the eclipse I bought which cost me more needless money then it should have.)

Did you really pay $26K out the door, including all taxes & fees???

You said GTP and Navi, right?

Damn, that makes my "deal" look really pathetic. I paid $28,400 out the door in California for the same package (except mine is Bl/Bl) and until now I thought I had done well.

Jeez.

Oh well, the car is still worth much more than $28,400 to me and that's all that should count I guess.

I was wondering that myself. If he paid 26k out the door including tax, title, tags. ect, that means either he dooesn't have to pay sales tax, or you got the most incredible deal I have ever seen in my entire life. He said in first post that he really paid $27500, because he took a big hit on trade in. I guess when all was said and done that is the real number, but if that is out the door, you did incredibly well.

Looking back over all the paperwork, I prolly paid a tad more. at first they said 26,661 as the price, I negotiated them down to $25,500 for the price, then they added on the tax which was $1250 and other fees which made it $26,750 or so. I did have negative equity on my car though ($2,000) which went on top of that which made the price $28,750. I also got the gap insurance and life/disability which bumped it up a tad. I paid 4500 down which brought the financed part to about $26K

With those numbers given, you paid $29250 out the door with gap and disability insurance. Either way you got rid of your old car, and stepped into a beautiful loaded up RX8. ENJOY

Ok, that makes more sense. Still a good deal.

Congrats to all of us who are now in 8s!

For those of you still on the fence, get out there already... even if you pay more than seen here, I promise you will love this car!!!
