Got my new Plate! "AllShoNoGo"
Well I should get "AllShoNoGo", since I got the car I have been very dissappointed with its power, expecially with people in the car you need to rev it to hell to get it moving.
Also I get many challenges from ricers (here in Miami they are everywhere at night) and sometimes I lose and sometimes I barely edge them out, thats why I wanted the "AllShoNoGo". Having such a flashy car I should be able to just dust them off..
I bought it without test driving it because I wanted one so bad and the dealership wouldn't let me test drive it, and here I am, in sports car pergatory with a flashy car thats no faster then your average RSX or eclipse.
Don't get me wrong, I like the car in most every other aspect, but most people I know are way into cars and they are always teasing me thats its all show, no go..
BTW-I have the 6MT tranny, I can't imagine the Auto with less HP and the burden of the Auto tranny... Why sis mazda make such a sporty car and cheap out on the power, I should at least expect good gas mileage but thats not on the menu either.

Re: Got my new Plate! "AllShoNoGo"
Perhaps you should have found a dealer who would let you test drive it, and done some research on power, gas mileage, etc. (here, for instance) before jumping more or less blind into a $30K purchase.
You make it sound as though the car is at fault here.

Claudius, this guy is a fraud - look at the post count and the name. He seeks only to mock, because he gets off beating 8s in the 1/4 mile before going home to his mommy's house. That is, that would be true IF his he even has a car and IF there were 8 drivers out there that would give him the time of day.

ehhh the next time you feel the rx-8 is slow try taking you ride to a track day.
@ luguna seca one of the instructors had a stock (motor wise)
90's something sentra but it had suspension work that was tuned correctly.
Well he was 20 plus second's faster than the m3 and corvettes that were their.
Granted hes an instructor and drive the track all the time but his point was that power is nothing with out knowing how to drive .
When he drove the rx-8 he made me feel like I was 15 with a learner's permit.
btw I also own two very fast domestic (63 nova and a 63 truck)
the truck runs low 13 alllll day and the nova has broke into the low12's but regardless the rx-8 is still more fun.
I can auctually take a turn in it.
Do you self a favor take a drivers course.

I love how some people will write a post and make it sound like our car is slow, that cracks me up...
It's not a beast of a performance car, we know this, but it sure isn't slow by any stretch of the imagination.

I been lurking on this forum for a looong time and never wanted to join, exactly for this reason. The reason I broke down and registered today is because I had a fustrating incident this morning on the way to work and I needed to vent. Call me a troll or whatever, if you don't like my experinces don't read them, if you don't want to hear how I feel and hear some harsh truth, don't respond.
I already said I like the car, I am just dissappointed with the power. And yes it is somewhat my fault for not testing it, I probably still would of got it anyway. Its just the situation I am in with so many friends that are car and speed fanatics that make me feel like this.
Sure I can say my car will outhandle yours, but excactly how many times on the street does handling come into play? ALmost never..

RedRx8Guy, you didn't address the issue that you should take a driving lesson (or two). Learn how and when to shift. Makes a world of difference.
Also, if you have been lurking, then you know we don't condone street racing... so if you want to complain about street racing... DON'T.
You also should know from lurking, that the 8 cannot be as fast (usually) as other cars available.
These (2) facts that you should know make you appear like a troll. No negative reply please. Not being a wingnut here, just pointing out the obvious! :D
(Move along folks, nothing to see here)

Lurking a long time? Go back to lurking. If you have been lurking around here for a long time, then you should know about all the issues of the 8. Since you claim to be lurking, you suddenly join and the first posted thread is a complaint? "AllShoNoGo" would not fit on any license plate in any state that I am aware of. Could I suggest a plate of "NONOTHG"?

So either hold your head high (maybe you should look into some new friends) and enjoy the ride you own OR just sell the car and get almost anything that's 'fast enough' if that's what you need to satisfy your ego (or whatever got you to 'feel like this'!
I mean no offense in what I say above, but comments about your posts here are because you've never posted before and start off so negative. This is typically a bait tactic by trolls, in case you weren't aware.

Also when your in mid gear accelerating exactly what does shifting have to do with it? Shifting has little to do with the feel of power and\or torque pull unless your in 3rd gear at 23mph trying to accelerate.

Dude, you need to find some more interesting roads to drive on so you can appreciate the car for what it is - a unique balance of performance, handling styling and (that's right) utility. Learn to enjoy the vehicle. There's a lot to like.

I think the guy is legit, he just needs more info....
First - yes you have to rev the sh*t out of the car to get performance. That's what the rotary is all about- RPM's= Horsepower, but the car loves to rev and does so quickly.
(and in my opinion makes it fun)
2nd Rx8Guy, you need to order a Canzoomer stage 1 or better yet stage 2 to correct the detuning that had to be done for the EPA. This will get you and additional approx 25 or 45 horses for very little money, and while it will never make the 8 into a drag strip car, it should easily take it into another class of power. That's what many of us are doing.

Well, this makes no sense at all. The car is certainly lacking in any decent power before 5krpms, but Mazda did not build this car for that purpose, and if their intent was to compete with the big boys in power they would have. This car is meant to be different, and in a class by itself. I believe it is. You should have known that before buying. This car is not about speed, but I will admit it certainly looks faster then it is. Instead of spending 30k on an rx8, you should have gone for pure power and performance and gotten an STI. Then again, if you buy the STI, you'll blow everyone's doors off, but then go on the WRX site and say it doesn't look good enough to be that fast. Personally I think this is a blatent stab at the rx8 for it's lack of power against other cars. I don't buy it one bit, and I doubt you even own one, or have even driven one. I think I can speak for many in saying WE DON"T CARE!!!!

If you live in Miami. We have plenty of dealers.
Kendall mazda
Ocean mazda
Marlin Mazda
Gunther Mazda
Eddie accardi Mazda
Potamkin Mazda
Delray Mazda
All of these dealers are within 25-50 miles apart.
Bottom line you should have waited and test drove first. Did you pay above MSRP?
